I've gone without providing care for my dogs. I'm in Indiana, I wish I was close to Colorado so I could take them to Dr. Jeff.

If people are unable to pay for vet care, the animals will be the ones to suffer.... along with any owners.

We don’t care about Wallstreet. We simply want to be able to take care of our pets but it’s impossible now. For goodness sake’s don’t buy insurance to perpetuate this evil mess! Boycotting is more what is deserved here. Insurance only bloats prices more than they already are. We have seen this happen all through the medical system. We should chunk the insurance middleman out in the street and force the doctors to deal straight with the people once more. They have completely and totally gone too far! The trust is completely gone! We don’t give a care one about Wallstreet!

June 2024, I just paid $800 to have dogs teeth cleaned. I know Im being ripped off. Need to get teeth cleaned though. So mad..... Shit balls!! 3 years ago, different practice, the price was $350 for teeth cleaning. My dog had some teeth removed 3 yrs ago, total bill only $1500. Vet prices are totally criminal at this point. Literally cant afford a local vet. Guess I will take him to the vet 40 miles away to stop being ripped off. Totally criminal. Extremely mad. Pet owners get stuck in the middle.

The quality of the vets have done down yet the prices have gone up. Hard to find a good vet now a day.

Im 86yo. My cat (18 yo cat) had to go to emergncy room for enema...two days later I came home with a $2,190.00 credit card bill. Then came the Dr followup.....four visits which took me up to $3,200.00 which incluong the cremation. I have alwys had an animal. My wonderful companion of 18 years, had cancer of the anal scent gland. Im about as sad as i have ever been and will never be able tohave another animal because of the cost?

There is an investigation into this here in the UK by our Competitions & Markets Authority, the charges are obscene; it makes you wonder how many animals will not receive the treatment they need due to cost meaning they will suffer.

As a vet student, it’s extremely disheartening when people say that veterinarians are only in it for the money. I think you highlight a lot of issues that people have not been talking about. With the corporate shift of vet clinics, it’s not the veterinarian’s fault that clients are getting priced out of care. I moved from a VCA clinic to a private practice, ended up making more per hour while seeing the practice charge literally half of what VCA charged for the same things. The private practice vet would also regularly perform things that VCA would refer, such as splenectomies, intestinal biopsies, foreign body removal, etc. While it’s amazing that new grad salaries are higher than ever, no one talks about the salaries in the Mars corporate office. Corporations are pricing pets out of care for the sake of keeping their profit margins high. I’m not sure what needs to change, but we cannot keep going the way we are going.

This is shameful Animals have been domesticated and bread by us for centuries. A stupid pain killer has to compulsorily be bought from the vet. It costs 40 euros. Where as a normal paracetamol costs 3 euros max. This is daylight robbery. Why are there no public hospitals for animals? India which is a developing country has free govt hospitals. Developed countries are so rich Yet so stingy. Animals need us, they give so much, the least we can do is take good care of them and make their care affordable

Vet prices are flat out highway robbery. Unfortunately, it's the poor puppy who pays.

People..Stop buying dogs ONLINE, in PETSTORES and just because you saw a MOVIE...Think!!!...stop beeing accomplice to the milldogs creations ...and inscrupulus BUYERS...MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!

The corporations buying private clinics are changing veterinary medicine into a horrific, corporate systems that are ridiculously expensive and run by a group of beaurocrats who tell the vets how to work. The same change they did to human medicine.

My bill for vaccinations for my two dogs was $595. This is a crime. I have great vets but as a retiree, this is becoming a problem. My old dog needed emergency care and a visit to the animal hospital was $885

I cannot afford our vet.Folks in our small town of Wautoma really don’t care for our vet. The problem is attitude to the pet owners. I had to put down my cat as a gal on social security can not afford her prices.

😢 I have no use for corporate greed. This is all it is.

God Bless You Jeff! I don't believe in killing animals either, the veterinarians we had used to allow people to pay over time rather than end the dogs life, not anymore and it's sad! Some people probably don't like me having 6 Big dogs and only getting $862 social security check and having to buy lots of dry food and having to dumpster dive just to make it through the month, somebody gave up on the animals for whatever reason and God gave me these dogs, sure it is a struggle at times, yet I don't want to give up on my babies, I love them so much and what God puts let no one tear it apart! Investors add nothing positive to the state of veterinarian medicine. Just added cost. They push very expensive, unnecessary treatments. They are also pushed vetrinarians to extract as much money as possible from the clients. It's no longer about animals, like human medicine, it's become all about money. Vetrinarians are now charging as much as a cardiologist for an office business, with none of the liabilities that a physician to humans has.

All vets in the uk are taught to extract as much money from us because they are taught to use a owners love for his animal,vets are traitors ,hate them and film them

Thank you! My dog had a thyroid tumor, I spent $6000 at a specialty clinic for surgery. They referred us to a veterinary oncologist, who wanted to do chemo for another $6000. One year later, he is chemo free, and doing great. I was totally turned off by the “specialty clinic”. You are doing valuable and necessary work and advocacy. Thank you again!!

My vet office doesn't do fecals in house anymore. They send out everything!

Dr. Jeff, you are such an amazing person! Thank you for this information. I have seen prices going up, but in the last 4 years, I moved abroad (and took my two, rescue cats with me). Prices over here are much more reasonable, especially when one of my cats has diabetes and the other has a serious heart condition. We are treating my cat with insulin and his special diet and we monitor his blood sugar (about once a quarter) with a Libra, blood sugar sensor and monitor (now, an app on my phone) - exactly the ones used on people. He is doing well. Anyway, I know this is an old video but still wanted to comment. I'm also so sorry to hear your cancer is back - but you are one tough person and I wish all the best to you and your family. ❤‍🩹

the vet industry is trying hard to emulate the broken business model of the human med/insurance industry.... because it's worked so well...

You are wonderful. So many of my senior citizen friends choose their pets care over their own. They can’t afford both. Seniors need pets. Most families children move away or develop their own lives. Pets love unconditional. We wish you lived and worked in Maryland. God be with you and your health concerns.

Thanks for all you do, Dr Jeff. I am a firm believer in adopting and spay/neuter. The costs have become so prohibitive. I just spent almost $400 for spay of a 6 month old pup that included microchipping. It's no wonder the shelters and rescues are full.

I had to surrender my little dog named shadow because he came to me with a broken bottom jaw and it healed up before i got him but three days after i got him a person who live two houses down from where i use to live jump over our fence to go to her back yard and my little dog named shadow had defend his yard and try to stop her from coming in our house because we left the back door open so that our two dogs could go outside to go to the toilet freely and this person had kicked my little dog named shadow in the face because he stopped her from going into our house and made her go to her house but my dog was badly injured because of the kick to his face with high heels and he lost four of his bottom teeth after getting his jaw rebroken and i could not afford to get the operation he needed to get his jaw fixed and he was in a lot of pain and his jaw end up smelling like rotten fish and i was giving him very soft foods but even that was hurting him
