Why is it impossible to get someone to just show how to enter a channel and mode and just use it as a simple monitor? It has more bells and whistles than a good humor truck and a manual which has hot links to link to more topics which are linked. Very frustrating

I like to listen to the International Space Station (ISS) and the radio amateurs making contacts through their repeater on 437,800 MHz. I have a Realistic Pro-2006 and a Diamond X-30 antenna for it. The question is simple but I can't find accurate information on this question, so it's better to ask. The ISS has its downlink frequency at 437,800 MHz, where you can hear radio amateurs talking. In the pro-2006 I can memorize, for example, these 3 frequencies: 437.795, 437.800 and 437.805. Those three memories are due to the Doopler effect of the ISS. The question is whether in the 780XLT you can also program, for example, those 3 frequencies in steps of 5 KHz (?), using the VFO or by directly entering the different frequencies... In 2024 this scanner is STILL a very good unit for analog trunking. It's made by GRE in Japan, so it's a very good quality.

Can you just do a general scan it will scan through everything and then just stopped on an active Channel when there is activity on that channel and then start start scanning through everything again or do you have to scan a specific department at a time

According to radio reference a lot of codes have a DEC and hex instead of a frequency. How do I enter just a dec/hex?

Totally blind. So my question real quick is can you write out the steps on how to manualy put a frequency into the radio? I could care less about programing it, I want to just listen to it. Also, once you have the frequency in, how do you get back to making your nob a Volume nob again?

Very good explanation. One thing I have learned is that the same concept applies also to the SDS 100/200. Same basic design but with a different display. So any how-to videos found about the 536 model can be applied to the newer models.

I have downloaded the programs to import the p25 trunking system from Radio reference to my Whistler 1040, now I have no idea what to do next. The screen on the radio says: press new to create objects...

So after the scanner scans bank 1 does it move to bank 2, bank 3, etc... (provided you did not turn off a bank or the bank is empty with no frequencies programmed?)

I received my 1040 handheld scanner yesterday and I was on your website because I wanted to program it manually and I just wanted to say fantastic job at the directions. I was able to get everything programmed in pretty quickly and scanning as I was quite happy... However, I scheduled in maybe 10 conventional channels, and I wanted to go back in to each one of those channels and update a few things in regards to squelch and back lighting and I was wondering if you could show me how to do that I don't wanna mess anything up.
