There are many variables to consider regarding break-in procedures. I wouldn’t expect them to be super specific bc of that. And there isn’t a way for Dodge to enforce a more iron clad maintenance policies….It can also be It can be assumed that there are two main 170 owners: Collectors who will barely drive the car and hardcore racers who should know how to maintain the car.

I totally understand not wanting to go through the same experience with your demon, but at some point I feel like you're over thinking this. There's not going to be 100%. precise knowledge specific to that car, it's complicated, so follow the mechanics advice to the best of your ability. If after a race, your oil is low, you probably have a problem. If it's the same after, you're good. If the mechanic who WORKED on the thing is telling you to break it on in 93, do that. I'd also reach out to other demon owners like Demonology

Stellantis is destroying classic brand by brand. Heck look at the abomination they just released under the Jeep name. I actually finally did it recently, got rid of my SP widebody...not because of anything against the car but what's happening at Dodge it's not something I wanted to hold onto forever. With the amount of cars sitting on lots marked up to Hellcat prices still, a crash is inevitable. Hate to say it but Ford got my business.

I think what they are getting at with "quality" is take a good look at the dipstick. Before you race for the day pull the stick and wipe with white rag. Take note of color and look for the forbidden glitter. At the end of the night do it again and compare.

Best break in is hard and short on an engine. 15w50 is what you want here in the south. They won’t tell you to not run 0w40 because of epa.

Come on. You know very well they don't mean send your oil out to be tested every time you race... they mean check your oil. Is it too dark from a lack of changes? Does it have metal shavings in it when you check the oil? Do you have enough oil? That's what they mean.

Biggest problem with the current Mustag is it‘s absolute ugly interior…! If you lose the look, you loose the distinctive feeling when sitting down the first time. These screens are just awful.

If I had one of those cars , I would be more concerned about being aware of your surroundings and it being a magnet for getting car jacked by future engineers and scientists for intersection takeovers donuts, shenanigans, and high speed police chases resulting in it being totalled. I can just imagine what it costs for full coverage insurance😂

So Demon 170 is essentially a kit car instead a tried and true factory tested vehicle. This was Frankenstein project that was started by Dodge and it is expected to be finished by special customers like race shops and collectors. It really wasn't supposed to be raced and maintained by your average luck joe, based on the amount of "leave it up to the consumers judgement if they test the quality of the oil before and after their race day". In other words, I hope you have the budget for this car RacerX. x_x

If you are driving around normal, you don't need E85. So at this point you can go 3,000 miles. These Hemi engines burn oil. So yes you need to always check the level.

When stellantis says "Check the quality of the oil" they don't mean send it off for analysis, they mean check for thickness, color, and condition in comparison to what it was before your race.

Wow man you need daddy stellantis to tell you how to take care of a high performance motor? Bruh i run e85 and 93 ....I change my oil every 3k miles. . And why you not doing the break in as it should .. Oil is cheap..a new motor is not. I use the Lucas ethanol treatment. My injector manufacturer recommended I use a fuel treatment to keep the injectors from gumming up ....if not use 93 more regularly... Its common sense man.

racer X thank you for the information for the Demon 170 I think basically we got to use common sense the folks that own these cars and understand there’s a little bit more maintenance and change the oil a little bit more often for peace of mind but all in all for all the folks out there that are beating the Demon 170s to death you all should move on and find something else to do. Obviously you weren’t born to own a Demon 170 Racer x keep up the great content I commend you for trying and putting the information out there Demon 170s the last and best American muscle car👍

Racer X, I really do admire your over the top approach to properly break in this motor and do everything right. Honestly man, I think you'd be way better off selling this thing while you still can. Hell even make a few bucks on it for all the headache and let down I wouldn't blame ya. I think a badass Viper would be an awesome addition to the channel. Maybe even an ACR and do some track stuff rather than a straight line, spice it up.

They had to say yes to the 0-40 oil even if heavier viscosity would be better because to say otherwise would probably get them in trouble with the EPA.

Sounds like some BS to me X. IMO you just got a bad motor. Simple as that. Break it in like you did all your other cars. I'm sure all the other 170 owners aren't being as meticulous as you are. If the motor goes again... sell the Demon (as sad as that may be) down the road and buy you something else. Rock on X!!

They can’t answer them because they would get in trouble legally and with the EPA. Even their oil recommendation is not correct. It should be running Rotella 15-40. And why all this hassle with E85 to only make 1000hp when there are hellcats making 1400hp with pump gas. they are just hoping not to many are lemons before the first 3 years. Nobody cares about the hemi anymore . Wait till the problems of the hurricane start popping up lol and the hilarious people thinking they can make more power with a tune when that engine is already running on its max potential

As far as oil changes go do what you can afford. If you can afford an oil change after ever track day do it. Definitely use ngk plugs. The gap on factory plugs are too big and the spark is literally being extinguished under load.

I stand by my earlier recommendation on oil change intervals. (as well as when to safely start drag racing it at the track) One thing to keep in mind, E85 is not as clean as you might think.. when it burns in the combustion chamber, it produces corrosive acids as a byproduct. When these acids get into the oil, they promote sludge formation. Particularly in the ring lands of the pistons. If you are not racing it, don’t use E85. That includes during the break-in period. As the engine ages and loosens up, you will have more blow by past the piston rings. Oil contamination from E 85 will occur quicker at that point. If you spend the day making several passes, that is why it is all the more important to change the oil after that day.

Unrelated I have a 2021 1320 and I know that as of the release of the 2022 production numbers there were only like 2400 and change produced from 2019-2022. I would really like to know if after the 23 production the number is still below 3000 units but I cannot find any information. Surely the numbers should have been released by now. Any help or information you could throw my way would be greatly be appreciated greatly

I'm surprised they took the time to answer such silly questions. Why can't you understand the oil quality recommendation, it's a pretty simple task, just test the oil a varying intervals and see what the results are. Once you do that and see the results you can fine tune your intervals based on driving and fuel use changes.
