To me… He is a Lane Hutson 2.0 but at 6’0 tall rather than 5’10. If that guy can get stronger in his lower body and therefore become more explosive in his acceleration… My gosh… sky is the limit for him. He is soooo smart. Great compete too. With just a bit mire acceleration & explosiveness in his skating, he’ll be a STAR

I heard a scout saying one of the most important aspect of a player for him for evaluation is the player’s progression through the year, and Sennecka had a significant progression this year. Look at these plays, I looked at other reports, he has good size, he is awesome. He has things to improve of course but I like him. If the Canadiens draft him with their 5th pick, it would be ok for me, they are the "expert", they know better than me.

Who's better Sennecke or Greentree?
@SimonSt-L-Scouting8 күн бұрын
Good question. It will be answered in the next video, but Sennecke. It's an interessting question because, like I said, at the start of the year, I saw Sennecke as a uy who would creep into the top 10 by the end of the year. I was right, however, there was some rough moment throughout the year for him. And as far as Greentree, I had a hard time grasping his game at first, but by December, his progression was insane ! At that point, he had the progression I would have thought that Sennecke would have. His skating improved and that changed his whole game (there's still some work to be done at this level) , he started taking over shifts once he realized that he wasn't anchored down by his skating and that he could cover more ground on the ice. Up until the month of April I had Greentree ahead, but I think his overall Hockey-Sense isn't that strong and a lot of it was covered by playing for a weak team where he had all of the leeway possible. Plus, in 20+ games, I saw him throw 5 hits, at best. Sennecke has some grit. But the Deal-Breaker for me is the Hockey-Sense, I think Sennecke edges him off by a good margin in that aspect.

Good analysis. Levshunov has all the basic tools but misses the flashes. He's effective in the MSU system but I'm not sure if he will in the NHL. That entire team plays a simple style and succeeds that way. Not many teams in the NHL are like that.
@theseanie995812 күн бұрын
i imagine a team takes him very high with the bet/belief that they can get his effort/commitment to be more consistent. honestly feels like something chicago would either 100% believe they can fix, or 100% rule him out for
@TravyPatty2112 күн бұрын
Very honest review of Levshunov’s game that I have not yet seen anywhere else. Love watching your videos to see a unique perspective. I share some of the same opinions of Levshunov’s game as he does not yet possess dynamic puck skills and relies on activation and funneling to generate offense, which he is very good at. I believe that he still has #1D potential if he improves on the relatively fixable concerns that you have highlighted. However I see his more likely projection as a higher end #2-4D on a good team who can be more effective with a parter who is able to do more of the heavy lifting at times. As a Hawks fan he does remind me a lot of Seth Jones stylistically.
@SimonSt-L-Scouting12 күн бұрын
Thanks for the kind words ! Means a lot ! You know what, now that you say it, I can see the comparison with Seth Jones. Good Catch. The team that drafts Levshunov high gotta hope that he'll round out his game and that he'll keep improving since High-Level Hockey is new to him.

He seems destined to go #3. Not good enough that Chicago has to pick him. But good enough that there is no reason for Anaheim to go with someone else since RD is their greatest need. He has such great tools and considering how little time he has spent playing at a high level, I think teams are very hopeful about his chances of rounding out his game and become close to a complete player. I guess Chicago could pick him as well if they plan on tanking another year and are eyeing Hagens, Martone, Misa, Frondell or someone like that next year, because defensemen tend to need more time to develop so you want to pick them early in your rebuild.

J'allais me coucher mais là j'avais besoin d'écouter ça!
@SimonSt-L-Scouting13 күн бұрын
Merci beaucoup.
@ddn121213 күн бұрын

Great video. I hadn't realized how good Yakemchuk's passing was for the most part, which is actually rather promising IMO for how he will turn out. With that said, one person I know said that they have concerns about Yakemchuk's ability to make retrievals in corners when he's under heavy forecheck pressure, and that they weren't sure if Yakemchuk could do it well enough to be a top pairing defenseman. Do you agree that there's a concern there? Also super looking forward to the Levshunov video

Great video, and love getting information on somebody whose name I've heard more lately but didn't know much about. Just to ask a few questions about Marques' skating, his stride looked very powerful, but based on your comment about him not being agile when pressured, I guess his 4 way mobility isn't very good? That's not as important for forwards as it is for defenseman, but still would have been a nice boost for a guy whose skating is one of his major assets. And final question, was there any examples of players applying the body while he's at speed in this video? I don't recall any, but I'm very curious on if he's able to keep his feet moving when in contact or not.
@SimonSt-L-Scouting26 күн бұрын
Thanks ! I wouldn't go as far as to say he lacks agility, but he isn't very slippery like Konsta Helenius or Beckett Sennecke, for example. It's something I like for a player who makes a lot of plays coming from the board (which is the case for Marques), If I recall correctly, his footwork while pressured isn't an issue, he doesn't stop moving his feet.
@praisethepuck27 күн бұрын
Finally got around to watching this. Interesting video (And not just saying that because it validates my own opinion on him). The point you made about his dynamic plays not shifting the defensive team's structure was a really good one I hadn't picked up on. I know you said that you view him as a #4 defenseman thanks to his weak physical play when contact is involved, is this not something that you think will get fixed as he gets older and can bulk up, or are you not going to consider this for prospects considering how uncertain physical development can be? Like the video though, and are you going to/when will you make a Levshunov or Dickinson video? Those are two defenseman that seem very interesting to me, and Dickinson in particular seems to have fallen for what I can only say seems like no real fault of his own.
@SimonSt-L-Scouting26 күн бұрын
Glad you appreciated it ! I'm not sure how much it's going to hinders him at the next-level, but from what I've saw, Buium is already a bit thick upper-body wise and I'm not sure he has a lot of room left for physical growth. It,s not like a guy like Jiricek who is very frail but you simply don't know IF he's going to put on the mass necessary. Buium does like to engage the body tho and I appreciate that. I'm supposed to make one on Levshunov shortly. I wasn't very productive the last 3 weeks, got very busy with work and I was prioritizing finnishing my views on the CHL playoffs for my future writing and video content.
