So you CAN run blue lights and sirens as a blood biker, providing you have done a course that permits it?
@jamesmclellan63012 ай бұрын
A bad example of the valued work done by bloodbikes. Disregard for traffic laws as no exemptions allowed. Would like to know the riders background as in riding experience and his training in the use of blues and twos. Highly doubt he’s a serving or retired police motorcyclist as he would know he had no exemptions.

The standard of riding seems generally good, the only issue is speed, Blood Bikes I believe it has been agreed with the NBBA will not exceed the speed limit, as with NHS Blood vehicles you have no exemption to speed limits, you clearly try to you caution but do creep up over 30 limits 36 at one point, on the multi lane in nation speed gets up to 80/81. They have no exemptions to traffic lights and signs, they are not classed as emergency vehicles, regulations 3, 37(5) and 99 of the road vehicle (construction and use) regulations 1989 does not allow for blood vehicles be it vans cars or bikes to be fitted with lights or sirens. I’m a retired NHS paramedic, if you claim any of the exemptions and you cause an accident then you will need to be able to justify your actions whether it’s your fault or not. Delivery of blood, tissues or breast milk is not an emergency. Ps I was involved in a serious RTA which was not my fault whilst on a 999, I was arrested and read my rights, investigated and exonerated of blame. Very stressful to say the least.

Not nitpicking, but... who's kidding, I *am* nitpicking. 1. Damp roads and you are consistently riding down the "dry line" in the centre of the lane. That's because all the oil and dirt and tyre particles collect there and repel water. Never ride there, always in the wheel track either side. Not just you, a lot do it. 2. 1:37 you turn off the siren before passing a stationary bus - you'd never see a passenger getting off and running out from in front of it. Should have had siren on and be dominating in the opposing lane, not just edging over the line, while also checking the oncoming car for a react.

Pathetic use of blue lights. I guess some people don't realise that you're not a police officer. Your organization should be forced to remove their blues from all vehicles, you can't even ride properly yet you're trying to escort a vehicle through heavy traffic? Absolute disgrace.
@jackboggis2704 жыл бұрын
As blood bikers they are advanced blue light riders and the chances are they were given a licence by the local police to do this. As well as delivering blood and organs they do marshalling and escorts for special events like this.
