I did blood runs back in the 1990s and got pulled over for doing 80mph on a 70mph dual carriageway. I was carrying blood that needed to be on Lowestoft hospital from Cambridge for an emergency operation that was being performed, and I was on blues and twos , I got pulled into a lay-by by police who kept me there for 30mins whilst doing checks, they eventually let me continue, but I got a fine and 3 penalty points for speeding . I was late for the operation and got a nasty response from the hospital surgeon. Luckily the patient survived.

@Simon Dec The law sees a difference. Ambulances are specifed in certain sections of the Road Traffic Act as being exempt from those sections, whilst human organ (ie Blood Bikes) are not. Human Organ vehicles are however specifed in the Construction and Use Regulations as being exempt from the prohibition of having blue lights and sirens. It's not just Human Organ vehicles, I recall the same anomoly applies also to coast guard, mountain resuce and bomb disposal, but you'd need to check. Conversley, HMRC have RTA exemptions but no blue light and siren exemption. The two are not the same thing. Blue lights merely identify you as an emergency vehicle, they don't give any rights in themselves. Vehicles exempt under the RTA do not need blues and twos on (if they're even allowed them) to be exempt, and having blues and twos does not make you RTA exempt even if you are allowed to have them fitted and on.

George Lee. The point of this is the rider is being looked at to see if his riding is up to the required standard that he can use blue lights & siren and is above all safe in doing so. If you look into the mirrors of the bike you'll see they're being followed be another bike that's the person who makes the decision.

Clearly unaware of the protocol for siren usage. The long "wail" is used on long clear stretches to warn of the approaching vehicle, this is then changed to the "yelp" when a hazard is encountered ie a junction and then back to the "wail" again. It helps reduce "complacency" of the public.

I’m a retired NHS paramedic, if you claim any of the exemptions and you cause an accident then you will need to be able to justify your actions whether it’s your fault or not. I know this is an older video now and I hope that you'll take this in the spirit that its intended but I was very disappointed to see the bike started without having the clutch in - I hope that I'm teaching granny to suck eggs here but starting with the clutch in is primarily a safety feature to guard against the bike being in gear and launching out into the traffic - it also reduces the load on the battery and starting gear as you only turn over the engine and not the engine and gear box - at the end, the rider stepped of the bike and then switched it off ? - if he had hit the gear stick on the way off, the bike would be off and doing its own thing across the car park - you are not in full control of the bike in either of these circumstances and I would be very surprised if the Instructor didn't pick up on such an important and basic fault - putting the bike into danger usually constitutes a fail - personally I don't put my stand down whilst i'm still on the bike - I do it when i've stepped off so that I can see what the foot is going to be sitting on - I have full control and I can use my foot to lock the spring loaded stand in place until I'm happy that its locked forward and the weight of the bike has held it in place. As I said - I hope that you'll take this in the spirit that its intended - hats off to you for doing it but you can keep yourself safer than this - these things are hugely powerful and if it launches it might take you with it - stay safe gentlemen - regards - Dale

Pretty sure the bike wont start in gear as per most modern bikes since about 2000 so most of the issues you mention are a non starter.I guess you could knock in to gear after starting but you could do that with a lot of vehicles and most dont start with a clutch in.
