There’s a unit from down Nova Scotia North Novas the regiment’s name Three years they waited in England Then at last the dear hour came Young lads who were eager for action Knew this was to be their big chance So they said goodbye to Ol Blighty And on D-Day they landed in France They fought their way up from the beaches The Hun counter-attacker were bold But the order came down from the Colonel Men, the ground we have won we must hold While the (cannot hear this part clearly any ideas?) They fought fiercely to hold back the Hun The shelling was something ungodly But each man stood fast to his gun They kept throwing it back at the Gerries As around them their buddies all fell Out there at the front of the spearhead The North Novas were going through hell At long last the line was completed As Monty kept pouring them in Now the boss (?) is off to the races In his heart he must know he can win Those lads weren’t out seeking glory They knew that the job must be done And the courage they showed there in action Was top and second to none Here’s a salute to the fighting North Novas May their deeds be known through the world And remember the fighting North Novas When the old victory flag is unfurled -- Did my best, but any amendments or corrections are more than welcome. God bless all who served.

It is no exactly a practical bunkai, is an artistical representation of defense at multiple scenarios betwen the sections of the kata...
Lol a block 🤣. Only a block for beginners. Everything is a strick.

I like how they say Bassai. Not Bassai-dai. There was no Dai or Sho when Funakoshi sensei taught Shotokan. Just Bassai. Same thing with Kanku.

Back then the Okinawans hadn't yet disclosed that it wasn't a staff defense at all. This Kata is mostly stand up grappling, takedowns and some pressure point attacks.
@normrobitza2 жыл бұрын
Many things were never disclosed. I think there are many interruptions that work. I don't think we will ever know exactly what the real bunkai for each kata are.

You should be prepared to defend yourself on any surface. You would never train on an unstable surface at full force. Karate was no taught in dojo originally. It was taught in gardens, grave yards, beaches, etc. Matsumura Sokin taught the Okinawan king in a horse pasture on a hillside behind Shuri castle.

Karate is about self defense. If you are not prepared to defend yourself everywhere then it is just a ritualistic dance.
