Do you need to advertise your physical link also when advertising your IRB's?
@jongreenit3 күн бұрын
Nope, the physical interface in this example (ge-0/0/0) needs to advertised to form the OSPF neighborship with the remote device. Outside of that you only need to adverse the interfaces with IP addresses if you want those networks to be reachable from the remote device. Hope this helps!

256GB RAM, 3x900GB RAID SAS, for $320? Count me in! Maybe I should track this kind of item, as I am planning to organize my own datacenter (Linux, Docker, Proxmox and so on) for Dev and experimennts, CPU is *NOT* usually the main point but for CPU/Dollars you could use modern stacked Intel or AMD NUC instead. One could mix these old beast on a cabinet with a stack of modern NUC. An infra.

Is there a way to put an irb.10 into security zones? I keep getting an error that it can't be in mix modes.
@jongreenit3 күн бұрын
On Juniper devices, Integrated Routing and Bridging (IRB) interfaces cannot be assigned to security zones. However, you can configure services on a per-zone basis to allow host-inbound traffic for device management. This allows you to control the type of traffic that can reach the device from interfaces bound to a specific zone. Security zones are logical entities that can contain one or more interfaces with similar security requirements. Interfaces act as a doorway through which traffic enters and exits a Juniper device, and zones regulate packets coming into or going out of the router. You can define multiple security zones based on your network needs, and the security zone type is implicitly set from the first interface configured for the zone. A security zone can be either a Layer 2 or Layer 3 zone, but it cannot contain a mix of both.
@willo73803 күн бұрын
@jongreenit I'm guessing you can't do that on Eve-ng, because at my place of work. U can put an irb.10 into security zones.

I followed this to perfection, but i still cannot get my node to be able to be selected. It shows up in the list, but still greyed out. I also made sure the naming convention matched multiple times. I am trying to add EVO 23.R2. It shouldn't be any different (still uses virtioa.qcow2 it seems. Any idea?
@jongreenit3 күн бұрын
Odd that its showing up grey for you - this is usually the case when theres a typo in the folder name, the naming scheme for vjunos switch running Evo is "vjunosevo" is that the name your naming the folder in the /opt/addons/unetlab/qemu directory? The actual os filename is still virtioa.qcow2

Yes so as long as you provide internet access to the vEX switches within your EVE-NG lab you can successfully discover them within the Mist cloud. They should show up as a EX9214 switch.

Great video man! I'm moving from doing Cisco for the last 13yrs to Juniper these last few days. I took a position supporting the government and everything we deploy is Juniper. I need to pickup the basic syntax and start working on VXLAN Mist, but not sure if this switch supports it.

Nice, glad to hear your you enjoyed the video. So the vEx is supported in Mist however Mist won't allow you to configure a evpn fabric using this device even though vxlan is supported. So this function may come in the future.

@jongreenitАй бұрын
Yeah so I learned Cisco when I was first starting out in the IT industry but it really came down to which one I interacted with the most. For me it was a constant interaction with Juniper equipment which made studying and working contribute towards the same goal. However if I'm being honest, industry wise the CCIE still holds more value over the JNCIE. As far as why I went with the DC track over something like SP, or ENT again it really came down to relevance I was seeing EVPN/VXLAN popup alot and I knew nothing about it. So the DC track at the time was the one that covered it extensively.
