When The Legend of Korra ended, the confirmed queerness hit me at night, hours after I watched the episode. I was in my bed, actually crying from happiness. The way the show went about Korra being bi wasn't perfect (as many people on the Internet bitterly like to point out) but to me it still is a defining moment in children's media and something very dear to my heart as a bi guy.

Yeah the writer saw how much the fan shipped Stiles and Derek and purposely separated them for two seasons because of that. Then they kept trying to ship stiles with Cora or Malia as a replacement. It was very clear watching the show that Stiles was bisexual but they never wanted to confirm that because he was a main character. They have continued to queer bait Styles sexuality there was a lot of shady things that they did behind the scenes the actors did try to lean into that concept though for the fans. When we did get queer representation most of them were one-off plots and they got killed off

Honestly I'm still kinda in shock that they made Buck Bi, I thought the show would just end up missing the opportunity to make a great LGBT character. It makes me happy knowing they finally made Buck bi.

I do think that maybe in the older seasons it was their plan to have Buck and Eddie together, but that never planned out, and to be honest, I like them as close friends a lot better. I'm absolutely loving Buck being with Tommy and I hope that continues.

I haven’t watched anything from Ryan Murphy except a couple random Glee episodes and The People v OJ Simpson and maybe I'm uncultured but there aren't many bisexual or pansexual male protagonists and/or male love interests to the female protagonists in fiction.

Hell yeah! Time to learn a bunch of stuff about a show that, realistically-speaking, I will probably never watch, but that I none the less care enough about to watch the entire 30+ minutes of the video!

The OC thing is funny to me because, at least from my experience interacting with many fans at the time, back when the 2012 series was still going on, I think it was fairly early in the series actually, a person on deviantart decided to create an OC they could ship with Leo, drawing them interacting with the other characters so much that I remember people thinking that it was an official character that had gotten leaked and that was going to be Leo's love interest (I specifically remember some people hating on her because they preferred Karai or because they thought it was meant to be Monalisa and therefor bad that they took her away from Raph). Again, maybe that specific event wasn't as universal as I remember, I just know I saw it everywhere to the point the artist had to say that it was just an OC, and I find it funny that people thought Usagi was somehow an OC, an inversion of this situation lol

Re apologies to insulting brucenat fans... gonna be honest, I think the only people more annoyed than Clintnat (etc) shippers by them getting together in age of Ultron … were BruceNat shippers. I can't speak for everyone of course but the main shippers for it came out on a "Well this has potential!" base after the first Avengers movie. None of us expected for it to actually go canon and were just hopeful for some interaction in future movies. It took me a while to watch this bc I used to be a Maribat reader and even though I'm beyond that (mostly. There are some well written ones that I admit I will read updates of if they ever come again), this was very well spoken and I appreciate your point. From the POV of someone in the trenches, there are a few things that literally everyone did that would make me actually close the fic, were the nicknames ("angel" was on thin ice and only because it was literally everywhere, "pixie-pop" and variations from Jason, "ice prince of Gotham" and "sunshine princess" is actually making me have cringe tears). Personally, I enjoyed some Adrien Bashing, but Alya bashing was often worse and I've read many an essay about the misogynoir involved in that but I can't remember most of them since it's been so long. I agree that Batman vs the TMNT is very very good however my favorite Batman content is Superman/Batman: Public Enemies ("they're so married" -my sister) and TMNT 2003. In the original musical, Grizabella is rejected solely because she is an old *FEMALE* cat. It's a statement on the throwing away of old women in western society, as ugly, worthless crones, while old men are "wise" and respected. Its admittedly sort of an English take, but it is an English show, so there you go.

Honestly I'm not a DC fan, as I don't like and am overwhelmed by the big two superhero comics, but as a Miraculous fan I was somewhat surprised to learn about it, just how prevalent it is, and in general it sounds like regular salt garbage.

I actually didn't mind leo crushing on April in the new movie (tmntmm2023) just bc like that was he reason to start saving crime but he actually does realize there's more than that creating this character growth that was pretty refreshing in the eyes if growth from romance. ALSO whats great is April is more than the crush and helps save the day and help the turtles succeed. I do think they are setting up for april to reject Leo eventually and I think with what everyone knows of 2012 fails in romance, I'm cautiously optimistic that they can maybe do it well and send a good message to the probably still majority young boy audience (saying that as a girl lol). So I know it's disappointing that Leo is the one crushing on April but in the end I don't mind it and I'm just glad it isn't donnie or raph who are my 2 faves😭

I think Casey and April's relationship works in 2012 because outside of Casey's romantic interest in April, he does genuinely care about her and want to be her friend. Donnie, on the other hand, seems purely focused on his romantic interest in her. Edit: I feel like rottmnt's lack of romantic relationships between the main characters is a good thing. Not only does it leave room for fan interpretations, but it also lets the show explore the character's dynamics without romance hanging over their heads.

I don't know if it's just me, but i always thought that 2012 April was a lesbian since she didn't seem to be that interested in either Donnie or Casey. Sure, she kisses them on the cheek a few times in the series, but i saw those as signs of affection & gratitude rather than attraction.

What's the problem? Poorly cast, poor film adaptation of a musical, terrible CGI reliance and mediocrely acting. I made it through maybe 30 minutes and went to the box office, collected my admission back and left. I've only walked out on 2 films in my life: Borat and Cats. And like Indiana Jones in The Last Crusade, I chose wisely.

If Cats was going to be a movie, it needed to be animated. Not this CGI nightmare. No team could have made it look good because the concept is awful.

As much as I agree that most of these were handled poorly, I am still glad they were part of the show. What I love about 2012 is that for the first time the turtles feel like teenagers instead of early 20s college boys, and awkward romances and crushes are part of being a teenager. It would have been better if they were genuinely good, but this show did so much right I can easily overlook it

2012 donnie and april- heck, all the 2012 ships i think are some of my main reasons why I just. can't tolerate ships with any of the tmnt cast and I haven't even seen the show.
