Sorry but 1 more question is on my dipstick it only has 1 line on it, is that the full line or low line and also some people say to check it on the stand so leaning over and some say bike in the upright position. thanks again

You can send us a picture of your dipstick so that we can see where the line is and we may be able to help you determine which line it is. It would be impossible to know without seeing it. How you are suppose to check your oil on the kickstand or with the bike straight up would be something you would need to look at the manual for. It is different for different bikes. Hey guys great video just watched it over here in Australia and due to your honest opinions, I still need a little help deciding what oils to run in my 1988 Harley Softail custom FXSTC. Shes done 80 000 km which is equivalent to about 50 000 miles. I'd really like to hear from you with what oils to run in all 3 holes, whether its synthetic or mineral, I'm not a big fan of running the same oils in all 3 holes as to me they all have different purposes so I'm more than happy to use your advice. much regards Mark...
@DKCustomProducts
@DKCustomProducts 17 сағат бұрын
Hi Mark, Your Evo is a bit different than the Sporty Evolutions, Twin Cams & Milwaukee-Eights. My first thought is, if it is running well, use what you have been using. Unless you have already been running synthetic in the engine, I would NOT run synthetic. Generally, Evo's do not do well with synthetic oil in the engine. Again, if you do not want to run what you have been running, I would use gear oil in the transmission, like a 75/90. If your clutch has been working well, I would not change it. A lot of Evo owners run ATF in their primary. If you have aftermarket clutch plate's, I would run what is suggested by the maker of the clutch pack. Sorry I could not be more specific. Evo's were made with very different tolerances than the later engines, different gaskets and seals also, so changing to something different could bring some unintended consequences. Thanks for your comment. Enjoy your winter down there! 👍😎👍 KP

Can you run a car shock 2016 tri glide
@DKCustomProducts
@DKCustomProducts 21 сағат бұрын
You can run car air shocks, or car shocks with a coil over spring. That is the first thing we started experimenting with 13 years ago. We played around with it for a couple of years, testing a variety of different shocks...including some from a Corvette. We could not find any that gave a quality ride. It would have been nice to find some that worked well, would have saved us hundreds of hours of R&D and testing. Also, would have been far more economical. Here is a link to a Report you may find useful/interesting- www.dkcustomproducts.com/overview-of-performance-rear-shocks-99.htm KP

@DKCustomProducts Күн бұрын
Adding 5-15% more torque in the low and mid RPM range is Not splitting hairs. It literally is the best increase in power per $ spent. Maybe you did not see that is how effective they are, just like you misstated that they work by creating back-pressure. That is NOT how they work. They work by reducing reversion, which results in increase EGV, which results in a better intake charge. Most exhaust has a bolt already at the end of the slip-ons that can be replaced by the Thunder Torque Inserts™, resulting in no drilling needed. If yours does not, bummer. Here are links to a videos with dyno charts and an explanation of the difference between backpressure (which robs power) and reducing reversion, which increases power. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mJidgZqdv5enfKs.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pthmrZNhzLKZiZs.html KP

They are made for Milwaukee Eight engines. You have a Twin Cam Engine. I am not sure if the M8 kit will fit/work on a Twin Cam. It is rare for a Twin Cam to have fluid migration from the Transmission to the Primary. Could it be engine oil, via a bad seal? Or was it verified that the extra oil in the primary came from the transmission? KP

Yes, the pump is actuated, that is how it pumps the coolant thru and purges the air out of the system, as seen at the 20:19 mark in this video. Until we do complete that, we cannot say with certainty. Thanks for asking, it had dropped off our radar when the bike we were testing on was sold before we could complete the testing. I run a 2020 Road Glide Special, and I've relocated my oil filter with the permanent filter, installed a tank lift, DK air cleaner, ran breather bolts for a while, but now use the filter. I don't consider any of this snake oil. There may be some temperature benefit from relocating the oil filter, but the huge benefit is not having oil pour down the front of my bike during an oil change. I think the bike looks better with the tank lift and more air has to be flowing over the heads. I could have gone with any old air cleaner, but the DK air cleaner was a requirement when I learned about the nasty air that the factory was recirculating back into my engine. The breather bolts would occasionally splatter oil on the exhaust. I liked the clean look of the breather bolts, but I switched to the filter and hoses because of the splatter. All of these things are better than stock.

Just try working with Kuryakyn these days and yoy will see what I mean. You can find similar foreign made products for a few dollars less, but I take satisfaction from the fact that I am supporting an American manufacturer employing American workers. That should be a major consideration for all US consumers. Now, you need to make your catch can with some neodymium magnets attached to it so that it will stick to the frame of ones MC.

Thank you so much for the comment. One thing we do not mention much in our videos, but you noticed it....when we are developing a part, not only does it have to work well, and meet our Lifetime Warranty standards, it has to be easy to install. We have made more than a few parts for our own bikes, that we really like, but they are NOT on our website...because they are a PITA to install. Thank you for your support of an American company and US Citizens. 👍 On the catch-can/magnet idea, what about those concerned that the magnet (or other parts of the catch-can) will mar the surface the magnet is stuck to (like when hitting a hard bump)? I like the idea, but that is the first question that came to mind. KP

@@DKCustomProducts I think anything will work if it's fairly short term use. The fact is gear oil is just that. Oil made to withstand the pressures put on gears and other lubrication. I used Syn3 in all 3 boxes at one point too because HD recommended it but it's not magical oil. It's 50 weight motor oil but since HD recommended it I used it. I have come to find out that manufacturer recommendations are not always the best recommendations. Especially when they say 50 weight motor oil is fine for your transmission and now they are saying 140 weight gear oil is the thing to use. That's a significant difference in oil weight and that's also when I start to see through the hype.

50 weight motor oil is equivalent to a 90 weight gear oil in terms of viscosity. Motor oil and gear oil have different standards and specs. But the differences (beside viscosity) are substantial. I have never heard of anyone buying a brand new stock Harley Davidson and just keep riding it without changing a thing. On the other hand, I have heard many times that Harley Davidson expects new owners to customize their new motorcycles. So engineers design the product with changing it built in, all supported with an 800-page parts catalog. What you do is offer more alternatives for owners to consider that the engineers may have overlooked. Seems very American to me.
