Someone spilled a bunch of spice somehow on top of my microscope. It got inside the middle where the eye pieces look in. What a mess. Smh I came to see how to remove the round screw pieces that hold in the glass pieces from the optics. There’s two indented marks so I’m guessing there’s an actual tool for these?

If you can't afford a whole microscope and just want the cheapest "microscope" for a camera, just spend 10 dollars on a RMS adapter for your camera. Extension tubes are also cheap if the projection size isn't large enough. Also, it's insanely hard to keep steady. Expect to need a tripod or a focusing stage.

Anyone that has done a proper live blood analysis program knows the difference between a bubble and a white blood cell, that the moving dots are not bacteria, and that rouleau can be an artifact if the finger is squeezed too much getting the blood. I think there are a lot of valuable things we can see in the blood.

Sorry for posting similar comments under your videos, but I have just seen several of your videos where you give buying advice for microscopes. I wonder why the difference between brightfield and darkfield microscopes doesn‘t have any part in this, not even in this video, where you list lots and lots of differences between microscopes without mentioning this. Isn‘t this something to talk about? There are a lot of microscopes out there that only offer brightfield microscopy, while I‘d guess that a lot of beginners (like myself) are searching for the easier to use and much more versatile microscopes that can do darkfield.
@joachimb57212 күн бұрын
I flipped through some manufacturers‘ websites and I found that it is hard to see if a microscope offers darkfield microscopy. I think it is a very important feature, especially for beginners who might just want to shove anything they find under the microscope just to see how it looks up close. Very frustrating. You get the feeling that no one is actually interested in darkfield microscopy - but people need it all the time, and for commercial purposes, too (like checking things for small damage etc.)

Hello I know you get this all the time. I just bought a selfie Katt I guess that is what it is called any it is listed as 200x5000. Fit and finish are seemingly nice batterie powered, not really bright led but I took a blood sample and placed it on the device and the image of my blood cells looked so cool. I paid 98 dollars on Amazon for it. It has the 4 rotary lens. Please forgive me for my total and complete lack of knowledge on this. I'm 63 disabled and very bored. I loved it as a kid and thought I'd give the hobby a try .my question Please you can't hurt my feelings here. Do you think this is a decent Micoscope? Thanks David.

Hello, is there a coating on the inside of the glass plate/cover/filter of the kohler illumination system that you cleaned? I cleaned mine and now it looks suspiciously clear compared to my other scopes...
@nonionbeezness12 күн бұрын
Great explanation. I imagine for a lot of novice users, like myself, what we really want to know is, with a specific eye piece - whatever it is say 10x for our scope... if we replace the 10x eyepiece with a camera that has a 0.5x reduction lens, how will the field of views between the two compare. That is, will everything I have in the 10x eyepiece view be on the image, or not. If the camera systems had a way of helping the novice get a feel for how much of a Mx magnification eyepiece is also 'in view' in the digital camera image, that would go a long way to help folks. I know it depends, but here is where precision isn't' really needed - a rough estimate would be fine. So when I replace my 10x eyepiece with the camera and its 0.5x reduction, optically I'm going from 10x to 0.5x, so about a factor of 20 difference. So is the field of view of the camera about 20x as wide as the 10x eyepiece view?

I just wanted to mention that I have 4 of those cameras (Name brand Mokose from Amazon) hooked to my ATEM Mini Pro ISO and they are fantastic. I have a home audio studio so my cameras don't need to do sound. Off subject, but would love it if you spent a few minutes on you broadcasting gear? Your audio and video are always excellent! I'm literally just starting out in microscopy having purchased a Tomlin DM620 Pro digital microscope, and your videos will be my go to source for educating myself. Am I right in thinking that the subject matter for mounting with pva should be as dry as possible to begin with, and can it contain a small amount of moisture? Thanks
@MicrobehunterMicroscopy18 күн бұрын
PVA glue is water-based, so it does not matter if there is some moisture present in the specimen. Other mounting media (resin-based ones) should be dry or at least be in a solvent that is compatible to the mounting medium.

You should have a video about replacing the entire set of objective lenses and where to buy them. My point is that you often state that all the objectives should be replaced at once. Additionally you state that 100x objective lenses can often be replaced with a 60x objective lens. For those who would like to purchase a 60x objective lens will probably not be able to get a 60x from the same series. Therefore this person must exchange all objectives and get a new set of 4 or 5 objectives. It would be nice for you to review entire series of objective lenses and tell the viewer which ali express objective series is the best bang for your buck. ppc

I've just bought myself a Tomlov DM 602 , 24mp microscope, and was looking for books to start, so your video was very helpful. I couldn't afford the new version of Heinz Weiss's book, but managed to grab a 1988 edition from a second hand bookstore for £6 which I'm hoping should be enough to get me started off, I also bought the other book you showed. Is there anything else you would advise me to get? I'm guessing slides and covers is one? anything else? I'm looking forward to starting this journey of discovery as I've always been fascinated by the world unseen.

🤚 Guilty of using the 40x with oil and not covering in the beginning. **Cringe**I made a dust free area where there’s a gentle mini slow fan in the air vent made of anti static acrylic with excellent lighting and I’m able to clean the lenses (I’ve found $900+ CAN microscopes on FB marketplace for under $50 but are quite dusty and dirty) so I’ll clean it up then put it inside to do the fine detailing of lenses, taking apart every layer.

Yes the last thing you said is correct. We called them dissecting microscopes and they were used for viewing mainly live cultures. The light scopes used mainly for c.s. And l.s. Slides. Viewing living Protozoa and algae etc. is by far the most interesting. The dissecting scopes allow jars with cultures of living things to be viewed.
