Brilliant video. My blower stopped almost a year ago. I saw that the a new Saab blower was around 250 quid, but it turned out none were available, though cheaper replacements are available. So I took out the one that's in it, messed about with it, cleaned and doused it in WD40 and it came back to life. I put it back in and it has been working fine ever since. So it's really interesting to see that a new replacement part can be so crappy, I hope you don't have to use it later on
@JohnyLondon
@JohnyLondon 3 ай бұрын
I sent that part back, it was sold to me as genuine (it came in the correct box) but was cheap tat. The original one has been fine so far. I'm glad you enjoyed the video - Cyclone Sid is a bit more to the point than me though, if you just want the how to!
@robinbeckford
@robinbeckford 4 ай бұрын
Been there, done that! Original motor started making faint tinkling noises, then stopped. Bought a used OEM one from ebay and had the same fun job replacing it. Then the second one stopped one day, but that turned out to be stuck due to slight rust and freed up ok without having to come out. (Take the filter out, give it a spin and squirt silicon greaase at it.) The original then decided to work perfectly! Maybe the removal process had caused the fragment of stuff to fall out? Sod's Law at work.
@JohnyLondon
@JohnyLondon 3 ай бұрын
It's all a bit hit n miss isn't it? Seems like plenty of times the original part just needs a bit of a clean and a grease. I don't think those cheap replacements are worth it unless you really can't get the old one going again.

that gate keepers cottage 4:03 looks like the one I remember when I was a kid,emtey then and derelict in the 70s,had a old Jowett Javalin car there we used to play in,they also filmed Black Beauty there I believe in the field behind.Oppersite side of the lock in the bushes there was a car grave yard,loads of old cars and vans from the 40s onwards dumped on top of each other,god know how or why they where there,we used to play in them.Last time I looked years ago they had all gone.We climbed on the roof of the cottage and it was rotton with tiles missing,we could see inside a room that had two wooden model boats on the floor and some kind of uniform hanging on the back of a door with a military style cap,all falling to bits.I always wanted to "rescue"the boat and see what the uniform was but was to chicken to risk falling through the rotton floorboards down below.

Hi Lynette. I wouldn't mind doing a frosty walk but I don't do much in the winter because the light goes so soon (I'm not all that for an early start!) This walk took quite a while to do - by the time I stop to film and so, on I'm lucky if I average a couple miles an hour.
