It's an important distinction to note that Colin did NOT say (or mean) he can't accept her... everyone wants to just label him as being unsupportive, or say he's trying to stifle her, but the situation is much more complex than that. Remember, this conversation is happening in the direct aftermath of the Queen threatening the entire family and warning about what she's going to do when she finally finds Whistledown. So it's not Colin just wanting Pen to deny that part of herself. He's trying to protect her and his entire family. There are other complex feelings going into it as well, but it's not as simple as people want to make it. And Pen's whole speech (the one that everyone seems to love so much) drives me crazy a little. He can't possibly know what it's like to not feel like he can be himself in society because he's not a woman? I'm sorry, is this not the same man she confronted literally the evening before, and called out at the beginning of the season for putting on a front? For "trying to be the kind of man society expects" in his own words, and "hiding the parts of [himself] that the world will not accept" to borrow hers? No lie, being a woman in that world was tough. They had pressures and issues men didn't have to deal with. But that doesn't mean men didn't have their own pressures and issues (both in general and in their personal lives) that women didn't face. There's a tendency to assume that if someone doesn't have the exact problems we're facing, then their life is fundamentally better and easier than ours. But it's simply not true. This honestly felt more like the writers trying to create a stand-up-and-cheer moment than something authentic to Penelope. Because saying he can't possibly understand societal pressures and expectations because he's not a woman is straight-up nonsense. His are different from the ones she faces, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. If you really want to know where Colin's head is at in these last two episodes (and the entire season, really), you should definitely check out Sammy Bates' analysis of Colin on her channel. It's fascinating, and really eye-opening. His motivations are a lot more complex and nuanced than a lot of people pick up on. He's definitely a flawed character, but he's also a genuinely good guy who's really going through some stuff. And he handles all the drama this season surprisingly well when you really think about it from his perspective, instead of only from Penelope's. The more I watch this season and really pay attention to him, the more I love him, and him and Penelope together. It is absolutely my favorite season and love story! I honestly can't imagine any future season topping it for me.

The more I watch this episode (or edits thereof), the more I'm like, "Eloise, I love you, but the best way for you to improve this situation is to decenter yourself, 'cause it ain't about you!" She's really like, "Ooh! I haven't seen my brother this authentically and gleefully himself since he returned from the continent. Better not let him have two seconds to enjoy his engagement announcement because I'm pissed at his fiancée." And then, "Let me just obsessively spiral about my [ex]best-friend getting with my brother at my new best-friend who is going through a legitimate crisis." But also, "Look at my brother. He's still so happy! Better make his engagement party about getting back at my [ex]best-friend for hiding shit from me! Forcing her to out a catastrophic secret during this engagement party could not possibly cause equally catastrophic (and very public!) emotional fallout for the groom who is...let me check...yep! Still my brother!" Yet further, "Yeah, I know you're trying to find a solution to your situation, new bestie (which yes, I understand to be your parents' plan to sell you to a septuagenarian as breeding stock), but I'm too busy trying to sabotage my brother's engagement party to give one half of a damn about your plight!" And finally, "Is my plan to ruin my brother's engagement party working even better than I thought? Ooh! It is! Look, his fiancée is falling into a terrifying panic attack trying to meet the arbitrary deadline I set. Better go stick the knife in, because after all, it is .37 seconds after that deadline. How could I possibly begin to care about such trivialities! REVENGE SHALL BE MINE!" Eloise really is the poster child for rich, 19-year-old, counter-culture warriors. She genuinely cares about her causes, ideals, and principles; however, she's so single-minded and solipsistic that she can't see the trees for the forest. My favorite examples of this self-centeredness are pretty clearly shown in this episode. First, she genuinely loves her family and cares about their wellbeing. She is right that Pen has to tell Colin about Whistledown. He has to know, and the later he finds out, the worse it will be for him. What's more, it should come from Pen herself. However, Pen telling Colin *at their engagement party* is quite possibly the worst way for him to find out. It would even manage to be worse than the way he actually found out. El's goal: minimize hurt to her brother; El's results: cause confusion, hurt, and anxiety to her brother at his own engagement party. Second, Eloise wants the world to be kinder and offer more autonomy to women of her class. She is right that women should have more choices than spinsterhood or marriage to someone chosen by a third party for them. That's a gross, sexist, exploitive system that needs to be torn down. However, when she sees a real example of that dynamic impacting her friend, she can not tear her attention away from her brother's and ex-bestie's relationship long enough to even commiserate sincerely. Cressida says that Eloise is the "only person to ever show her true friendship" later in the season, and I'm just like ¿¿¿Is the true friendship in the room with us???

the way they edited the we are engaged in the show is evil cause i already had an issue with how it sounded sped up to be a normal speed cause i sometimes feel like they talk to slow so i put it on regular speed to see if maybe at was just how it sounded at the speed i was watching at and it was worse. as for this video it was great i liked the deja vu moment and tao from heartstopper especially since jonathan bailey is in part of season 3 and the "pulling a hamilton" was what watching that scene, everything you did for the engagement ball was hilarious and im always down for any of the spongebob transition slides
