Balon dor follows 3 criteria 1. Indicidual performance 2. Team performance (teophies won that year) 3. Career (influence as a person, and how ilustoruous the whole career is) So that's why players like Ronaldo and messsi would win when other up and coming players challenged, because while 1 and 2 were close, 3 would edge it.

It’s about deserving it it’s about earning it. The hardest thing to do in football is Putting the ball in the back of the net hence why forwards get it the most. If you don’t get that by now then you’re just dense so forwards will always get priority. You’d have to have a van dijk 2018-19 kind of season and Messi not be around for a defender or CDM to win it

He has lost like 1 game this year and he had a crazy amount of g/a as a cdm.
