Just FYI you can't see Area 51 from there. It's behind a mountain in the Mercury Valley.

I'm glad I found your channel. Good videography and interesting content. We traveled that highway back in 2018. We didn't boondock (we're such losers!) but we thoroughly enjoyed the entire drive. New sub and I should mention that your speaking voice is spot on. I get frustrated with today's kids who talk way faster than my brain can process!

Does this Rounte have a steep Southbound mountain pass like you get going on I-15 heading into Fontana?
@NixAdventrex27 күн бұрын
@@hrpickinstuff it gets hilly at times, but there really isn’t a severe mountain pass. Maybe a small one going into the 29 Palms area after Amboy and then a bit of a pass / mountain corridor coming down into the Palm Springs area. But I driven far more severe passes.

I have memories, cherished memories of living in North Lake Tahoe for a while. I was the percussionist and vocalist in an acoustic band that played all original music, which sounded much like Crosby, Stills and Nash or Neil Young's type of music. We performed in the "Rusty Scuppers" of the day and other locations where acoustic music was favored. This was in the mid 1970's. It will always remain the best original music I ever played. Now a singer-songwriter, I still play one of signature songs from that band, a song written by a friend of ours - songwriter Steve Peters - the song: "Dixieland Lady". Though I have tried many times to locale a few of those I played music with at that time, sadly I have lost touch with a couple of them. I was very surprised a few years back to find that a blue grass group - The Cache Valley Drifters, had recorded a blue grass version of Dixieland Lady that you can still listen to on You Tube. Our version was slower and a ballad, but beautiful still. One of my originals songs has a mention of Tahoe in it, which I wrote when I lived there: "Man From the Mountain Country". The line from this song that "says it all" is: "I no longer live in the Mountain country, but I'm still there in a special way." I just want to express how much I was moved by seeing my old "haunts" of Incline Village and Kings Beach during your trip around the lake. When Mesa was "on" the music was.....stunningly beautiful...ahhhh love the memories I hold of living in Lake Tahoe in the 70's. Thank you for the images I saw today of my favorite place in the U.S.: North Lake Tahoe. Cheers! Brian - Las Vegas

Brian here, if any of my comments seemed inappropriate, please know that this is the first time I have watched your videos so my comments about meeting you, except strictly as friends and certainly traveling at any time with you on your travel would most likely not be proper. Did not know you were married. Still, I of course will keep enjoying your videos and wishing you your cute puppy and you your husband well! Brian

Lake Tahoe is my most favorite place in the US - played music there in the early 70's.

Just a year ago and people were forced to wear those stupid masks! Can't believe it. Life long Star Trek fan - glad I did not come that year, as I would refuse to be forced to wear a mask by those requiring this ineffective stupid control over us! Resistance against this travesty is NOT futile.....

CalNeva and Tahoe Biltmore are both closed so that leaves Crystal Bay as the only operating casino in North Shore? WOW thats surprising since all NV gaming is making so much money these days. I guess South Shore is still where 95% of folks go in Tahoe. Thats too bad because CalNeva was an awesome (and CHEAP) place to stay even as late as the mid 2000s.

We have a resort at South Lake Tahoe that we visit typically in May and September when the weather is usually good and the number of tourists is way down. When we did this tour around 2020 there was no shuttle. Our tour was suppose to be with another couple, but they rescheduled and it was just the 2 of us with our guide. We did the tunnel to the boathouse, but did not see the pool site. Amazing that the Thunderbird boat is still there and there will be boating events at the lake when it might be seen. Good tour, good information, good stories that may or may be modified a bit.

I ran the 100k that day and it was INSANELY brutal with the heat! Heading back from Housewife hill, I passed all the 200 milers and was seriously impressed by how well they were moving despite the temps. I’m about a third of the way through the video and excited to see it through! Well done 🙌🏻

I think I watched your video on the 100k. My runner Andrea thought the 100k-ers were super faster 200 runners 😆 . Then she realized at one of the aid stations there was another race!

It's so great seeing cast members from Star Trek: The Experience. Sadly, I never had the pleasure of visiting it when it was still around, but have watched special features etc. covering it. Also, it's nice seeing the convention. I used to attend conventions when I lived in California, but now I don't live near anyplace that hosts them, plus I probably wouldn't have the energy I did when I was younger.

I absolutely love the town of Bridgeport and Bodie! Stayed in the Bodie hotel many years ago. I am doing another trip up that way this summer and I plan on doing some dispersed camping in places I have always driven by but never camped at. I not only have Travertine Hot Springs on the list, but Fales as well. I saw all the cars, but the pool was empty. How crowded was it?

Out and about with Diane stayed at Benton hot springs too with her sister it was $75.00 for spot 1. To me this is just too much to me. It is all cash flow for them. Money is all that they are after at the hot spirngs. The lake and graveyard were good. Paul in Ohio
