This makes me wanna build another van or something - not that its too similar but i miss turning wrenches and the feeling you get when the task is finished! Cheers!
@JoezGarage2 күн бұрын
Well said! That feeling when you complete that task is the best! But your van is awesome man. When I watch the 2500 video and saw the Xbox controller and TV I was ohhhhhkay this thing is setup sweet! Building something is so much fun . If only the channel paid us to completely build all the time!
@RamblinRoverMatt2 күн бұрын
@@JoezGarage Thanks! I wish! lol ... to be fair I should have filmed my van build more and maybe i would be getting paid a little. The only video of a build I did has by far the most views (DIY Surfboard Rack Side-Mounted) But I was just too inexperienced to film and problem solve and build at the same time. Trying to build out another camper vehicle, film it and then flip would be fun though. Views and possibly actual money lol...

from the beginning, i thought you would use penetrant on every darn bolt you knew you would unscrew in advance to let it work??? i thought you would have a fork for the ball joint, not sure if you intend to remove the interior for refurbishing or access, if you remove it in advance, it could maybe help for weight on stands...keep it up
@JoezGarage3 күн бұрын
Your correct I have been spraying everything down pretty much anytime I am with the car enough that I’ve been thru 3 cans of my rust penetration! I do have a fork for the ball joint also and other tools that could have removed it. But because how loose the hub was on the control arm I didn’t want to mess around and just brought it down together. If the strut and the tie rod was still connected I would have got the fork in there and hit it once or twice and I think it would have came right out! And great idea about the interior! I think once I have the car alittle more secured on the lift I will get inside and start to pull that out! I’m afraid to be rocking the car too much the way it’s lifted in the rear! Thanks for watching and the comments! Love the support

An E-type! One of my neighbors growing up was a retired machinist and rebuilt an E-type himself over the course of like 10 years. It turned out as one of the most beautiful examples of one of the most beautiful cars ever. That project is definitely worth looking forward to. Those bumper beams are USDM specific. They're significantly thicker and heavier than the JDM ones which are really just a flimsy bumper hanger. The US ones are thicker because insurance companies want less claims from low speed collisions, it's like fender bender armor. A lot of people switch to the JDM ones because they're 30-40 lbs lighter on each side. US dealerships sell them too, you don't even need to order them from some obscure source in Japan, and they're WAY cheaper than the US ones. It's an easy way to take almost 80 lbs off the car, and you feel it more in corners compared to 80 lbs weight reduction in other parts of the car since the bumpers are so far from the center of gravity. I'm personally torn on doing it because people have rolled into me before but there was no damage. The thicc US bumpers probably played a part in saving everyone the headache. OEM JDM bumper beam front part# 57760fa400 OEM JDM bumper beam rear part# 57760FA192 It's better to just fix the bumper you have or source a US bumper from a pick-n-pull/junkyard, but here's the part#'s anyway in case it helps. All USDM imprezas 93-01 have the same rear bumper beams. All USDM imprezas 97-01 have the same front bumper beam as the 98 2.5rs. front part# 57760FA002 rear part# 57760FA151

what a great comment! I had to hop on my computer to give a response that is worthy! the E-type is my dad's and it really is one of the best looking cars when it's done! I have looked at that thing my entire life and my dad has started to work on it now that I am working on my RS, I think it motivated him to try and get some of it done! I know that he won't wait for me to record every step of the process like I am with my RS but I am going to continue to give updates on that and document as much as I can on that rebuild! we have a few other special project cars lined up also! as for all of the great info you provided me on the RS bumper beam, I love that! I had no clue there was a difference with the USDM and the JDM and I love the fact you provide me with this information! I will DEFINALTY be going with the JDM one 80 lbs is like a small human being in the car so worth the weight reduction and if the cost is better it's a double whammy! I don't blame you for not swapping them if your cars not already pulled apart but if you do end up doing the work it's for sure worth it! I agree I would hate for someone to bump me but I don't think I'll have the car out on the roads that much after its complete it will be more of my show car and weekend driver. at least I think at this point! thank you for the part numbers that helps aton also! wherever you find all this info or the fact you know it all is super impressive! the pull-apart by me are so thin and I am close friends with someone that owns a massive junkyard, so I am always looking thru his inventory but recently it's been so dry! always looking forward to here more from you and thanks for watching!

Obviously, I'm real nerdy about the car. Back when I first got mine, forums were still popular, active and regularly updated with a wealth of information, especially if you knew where to look, asked the right person, or just lurked around long enough. They're still a good resource. I now have a large unorganized document where I note certain things down about the car. I've got a link to the factory service manual in there. Also notes about things like which tires to get. I've got maintenance logs. I note down where to source certain parts that I'm considering at the time. I copy down part numbers if it's something I want to replace with an OEM part, or aftermarket equivalent, either as part of a mod, or just maintenance. Often I can just open up the doc and copy paste here. For example, I already had the JDM bumper part #s copied in the doc if I ever want to get some in the future. I first learned about them years ago on forums. If I ever have a little money burning a hole in my pocket and think of it, I might just buy them so I can do the swap when I feel more comfortable with it. I get the part #s from several websites, depending on what I'm looking for. I find it easiest to find parts for specific US models on subarupartsdeal.com. I can then paste those part numbers into the more normal dealer sites and they'll show what models share that same part. Makes it easier to shop around that way. Finding part #s for the JDM models has extra steps and is generally more tricky. I usually start with partsouq.com and maybe amayama.com. Neither of those sites have a search function that I find straightforward to use. Amayama is particularly cryptic. I usually have to find the full JDM model code to get specific information, like GC8E2SD is the full model code for the 22B. Once I have that, partsouq has all the part numbers organized by subassembly and I can track things down relatively easy.
