Great flight and beautiful destination Cornwall. Why the plane don't use the jetway? Good video

WOW it has changed since last time on Virgin from Shanghai was they had own lounge on the lower ground - it was when they flew A340 and then they gave not only Upper Class amenity classes and Premium Economy and Economy with the cute rubber duck. Also they gave champagne as a pre-take off drink. OK this was 14 years ago and then they had hair dressers in the lounge in Heathrow. Great lovely lounge wear still use today
@JTsJourneys5 күн бұрын
Wow that sounds like a whole different airline! Back to the days of the A340 are a distant dream now… I quite like the idea of a rubber duck (Lufthansa first ?) and a pre departure champers would really elevate the whole thing ! Thanks for watching :)

Another superb and very comprehensive trip review. I particularly like your on screen graphics which really help to highlight the differences between premium economy and economy. The flight was all going well until the second meal service! Such a shame as in terms of quantity and presentation it was so poor compared to the first service. I wonder if this is the norm or was the incorrect catering loaded at Shanghai and the crew tried to cover it up? Finally, i'm surprised you never read the inflight magazine. As an avgeek I love looking at the route maps and information about the fleet. There are often interesting articles written by flight crew too.
@JTsJourneys5 күн бұрын
The route map is about all id look at (plus any fleet details!) the virgin fleets is fairly simple anyway these days so not much in there for me! I just feel the 1st meal was on point and the rest were just an after thought. Agree it all went well until then… mainly the final meal for me that was a let down. Unsure if it was an incorrect catering problem as they didn’t mention anything. Would be helpful if someone in the comments could help us there

One of the perks of premium economy is an additional 23Kg checked bag, which is great if you are bringing back gifts.
@JTsJourneys5 күн бұрын
That hadn’t even crossed my mind but totally agree! We were only away for a week so our bags were under packed enough to fit many many gifts in
@davidlazarus675 күн бұрын
@@JTsJourneys Another big benefit is that premium economy is rewarded with higher rates for points and tiers. It was my personal favourite for low cost status flight runs. Especially on long haul routes. You would need more flights but that wasn’t an issue for me.
@JTsJourneys4 күн бұрын
The other plus is you can earn points and tiers on reward bookings too unlike BA

Hiya! Great video! Really useful to see BA's offering. I'm hoping to go to Tokyo in March/April next year. When did you book your flights? At the moment a direct return flight is around £1000 but Air China is offering £650 for only 2 hours longer a journey (seems too big a difference to justify the extra cost!)
@JTsJourneys6 күн бұрын
Thanks! I booked a year out to get the redemption seats. Direct is usually better but the Chinese airlines do offer some good value fares, just don’t expect them to operate the same as western airlines. I’ve a review coming up soon on China southern for a trip to Korea which will highlight the watch outs

I've flown on that very aircraft when Eastern offered Manchester to Southampton, a service I wish they would re-instate.
@JTsJourneys7 күн бұрын
Who flys the route now? I used to fly is quite a bit on Flybe
@zm3213 күн бұрын
@@JTsJourneys No one. Eastern Airways took it over and their service was inconsistent. Sometimes it was available, sometimes not, sometimes it was a morning flight, sometimes in the evening, very frustrating but at least it was there. FlyBe offered about 2/3 flights a day on that route and it was always busy when I used it the 20 or so times that I did.

Good job they lock the windows. People need to rest! Bloody klm doesn’t lock the windows in business class on their day flight from kix to ams. Some passengers were enjoying the view outside the entire journey! Selfish bastards.

Pros and cons. It's a con if you want to see outside or are trying to stay awake to adjust to timezones. I flew Virgin recently and they locked the windows down to 50% which was a good balance; dark enough to sleep, light enough to stay awake if needed.

So we had a return flight on BA booked LHR-SIN-LHR with a companion voucher and then booked separate flights to Bali and back. Flying in the school holidays this was the most cost effective way to get there vs a connected itinerary on SQ or another airline. Thankfully the interline agreement means SQ could check our bags through

I would definitely choose Singapore Airlines over Air Asia. It's incredible what they offer in terms of service, comfort and amenities on a short flight in economy class. This is what flying shorthaul in Europe used to be like before lowcost airlines and I wish flying shorthaul economy within Europe could be like this once again. Thanks for posting this video.
