@@jasonpotampa3238 the top of the transmission was touching but I lowered the engine mounts. It's really close but doesn't touch. I only had to trim a little around the shifter hole. Somehow the stock cross member worked, just had to be modified a bit.

Wanted a 65/66 mustang since I rode in one at 5 years old. As I got older my dream car became 66/67 fairlane. I've drove a coyote mustang and know how bad ass that motor is. You sir, have the coolest ride on the planet.

I’m 60 years old too . I remember it well ! My friends all had nice old chargers and challengers , cudas and demons , mustangs and fairlanes just like this … but yes , they were mostly worn out and tired , but still well maintained and cherished . But the good news is you could pick them up for $1,500 or so . Life was grand !

@markgibson61

@@mikeisabella4539 It's a lot of work but it's not too bad if you know the right parts to use. Took about 6 months to do. Used a new crate engine with the Ford control pack. Rod and Custom Mustang II front suspension with Coyote mounts. Front shock towers removed. New brake lines to new disc brakes. Had to modify the mounts, motor sat too high and too far back. TKX transmission was touching tunnel. Had to modify that a little. Was surprised the stock crossmember worked, just had to be modified. Used stock clutch and brake but used a hydraulic clutch conversion kit from Modern Driveline. Used smallest/shortest master cylinder I could find (from Mustangs to Fear) in stock location-very tight fit, probably the one thing I would do different. Engine comes with a dual mass flywheel that can't be used. Bought long tube headers from Mustangs to Fear. They fit perfectly. Front springs were too stiff at 650 lbs. so changed to 400 lbs. but still a little stiff. The wiring harness brand new from Ford had 2 bad connections (one in MAF sensor and one in throttle position sensor) took weeks to figure out. Ford's tech helpline was no help at all. Used an air intake from Power by the Hour with stock size MAF housing so it would run on stock tune until broken in, then went to dyno. I highly recommend Power by the Hour and Mustangs to Fear for parts and advice. They both were great help. The wiring took some time. Dakota Digital dash with BIM module made wiring the gauges a simple enough one day job. I'm very happy with how it turned out and how it drives. If I paid someone to do the work I would have had way too much invested in it. There is a bit of fabricating involved. Let me know if you have any other questions and good luck!

Thanks Jason! It was a tough choice but we restored the car in the mid 90's so wanted to give it something new for the future. I miss the FE sound but the Coyote sounds good and is a lot of fun. It makes for a more practical car to drive. The Mustang II rack and pinion setup is an improvement too. If I was someone who didn't like to drive a lot I would have left it alone.
