Nice job Tony. I have two A1s and two Minis now and they're all amazing printers. They've been reliable work horses. A couple of AMS lites is on my short list for sure. I do print some decorative items like figurines and wall art, but most of my prints are functional parts. I've been printing in PLA, PETG and carbon fiber PETG and all the prints have been excellent. I'm incredibly impressed with bambu's machines.

Nice review! I have one on order to arrive next week. It looks fast, especially zipping across voids with no strings. I have a spot reserved next to my PC on the office desk, so hopefully not too noisy. Otherwise I can move it to my workshop area but the WiFi is weak down there.

I'd like to know how you bought this microscope for around 20 UK Pounds. I went looking on the Temu site, thinking that I would buy one. Alas, this item is selling for 150 to 180 Canadian dollars. I think your Pound is equal to about 2 Cdn $, so that would be about $40. For that of price I can buy a much simpler version of the item. Your comments would be appreciated

Great idea Tony. Unfortunately, the aluminium T slot table section is currently not available from Amazon UK. Amazon Aus can provide a MDF / Aluminium hybrid board for the 4040 with a 200mm extension. Cost is approximately $300 or 150 pounds. Do you think this would work as well? many thanks in advance.

Hi thanks for your comment I purchased mine off Ebay for approx £70. Is the hybrid board made up of MDF and alloy T slot if it is it should be ok. I preferred the all alloy T sections. If I need a spoil board on I just bolt one to the table. Quite a lot of uses use that type of bed.

@@Tonys.Top.Tips.Workshop HI Tony. The hybrid bar has 6 aluminium T bars and 7 MDF strips and measures 420 x 600 x 20.5mm. I doubt that I could make it as precise as this one for the price. I think that it would be a useful extension for when I start using a trimmer router for larger projects. At the moment I am content with the smaller spindle and practicing on small MDF boards until I get more confident wit the software and the machine. Sorry to here about your problem, if it's a limit switch it is easy to replace if you know which one of the two it is. Replace one and try the machine if it cures the problem great if not swop it back again and swap the other one. If that does not work shop the board. When swapping the board take photos of the connections I use coloured felt tip markers on connector blocks and number them. I will try and do a video on changing the board in the next few days. It's not as hard as you think to change it but try the limit switches first.

Thanks Tony for your reply. The micro switch works when I turn the z axis by hand and also when I use the mpg controller. It is also strange that when I use the home button only the z-axis moves and is going up and up. It only stops when I use the stop button. So even if the micro switch does not work, the home button will not function.It looks to me like a bug in the software. But I am new in this cnc world. The green light lights up on both of the yet it doesn’t move the machine.The control board they sent was the exact replacement as the old which is not the wifi one. The wheel seems tight on this one as well.The machine is so small, it’s not really necessary but nice to have.

Hi thanks for the question and sorry that you have been having trouble. If the machine works other than with the hand wheel it could be an issue with the motherboard connection. Mine works with the offline controller and through the PC and I would not think it would be two hands wheels. Please let me know how you sort this problem out.

Hello Tony. This is Wendy from Bundaberg Queensland Australia. I really liked your video, I have just recently bought a Genmitsu 4040 Pro CNC machine because for the last 40 years, due to mental health and physical disabilities I have really isolated myself. As I have always puttered around with computers, electronics, woodwork etc (limited by my physical restrictions that is...) I am only now (with proper help, starting to re-intergrate with my local community - ehh! At 66YO I figured it was about time!.) Any way just a couple of things which may give you a direction to look into, I really don't know if it will work but, as I mentioned I have done a lot of work with computers over the years.. Anywho, I believe the 'Genmitsu" uses G code to process and direct the CNC etc in it's paths etc? Would it be possible to 'SET' the origin point of each job into the 'code' of each job manually? If so, then the problem would be fixed I think, this is just an idea as I have yet to receive my own machine and once I get used to it I am cosidering the 4th axis machine that you showed in this youtube video (I did watch your 'Unboxing one just prior to this one) as a compliment to my CNC down the track. Regards, Wendy. P.S.: Could you let me know if this helps?

Hi Wendy thanks for liking the video, it helps me too keeping your mind active and motivated to me is what it is all about. Good question and an interesting one, with the offline controller when you zero off on all the axis at the start point of your job that then becomes your job origin the machine will return to that point after the tool path finishes. I would be interested to know if you find the answer to your question as I don't know the answer

@Tonys.Top.Tips.Workshop Ай бұрын
Hi thanks for your interesting question. The Tooltec cnc has a smaller working area and a brushless 150w spindle very quiet but does the job. Software is Bravo Prodigy and is pretty basic and it comes with like a games controller for moving it around but does the job, you have to be connected to a pc to operate it but what ever program I put through it from Aspire or vcarve it just runs it. The build quality is that good it takes 2 people to lift it and is a solid alloy base. To answer your question yes I like the Tooltec better but that is only my choice but it is far more expensive.

@Tonys.Top.Tips.Workshop
@Tonys.Top.Tips.Workshop Ай бұрын
@@shaunkimify Hi they are very heavy machines but as I say its only my choice. The big limitation with the Tooltec is the power of the spindle and bed size with the 4030 v2 you can put a far stronger spindle on and cut at better feed rates and of coarse alloy. I dont have the 4030 v2 so I cant give an opinion on that. I have the 4040 pro and that is not as well built as the Tooltec. I picked my Tooltec up for £900 and at the time they were over double that and it had not been used more than 2 times. Dont forget the Tooltec you will be limited but the 4030 has more upgrades that you can do to it and more materials. When I purchased the Tooltec there was not much on the market but now there is a fantastic choice. All I would say is look at what you might want to do in the future before you buy.

Hi Tony. Another workaround and another cause for you. You should be able to find clip-on codes on Printables/Thingiverse etc. I'm not sure about others but certainly on the textured PEI plate, the paint they printed the code in is partially soluable in IPA so every time you wipe the plate down, the code gets less readable until you get this problem. If you avoid wiping the code, you at least extend the time until you run into this.

The smaller one would be easy to make independent to others in a chain by putting shutoff valves in between each on, they are cheap and use push connect the same as your hose connectors, the only thing is you would need to use them in order, i.e. the farthest away turn off first.

MBF is porous. Actually but not above 15mm-thick MBF. Nonetheless it's amazing. The same reason explains why MBF soaks water too.

Hi My vacuum table on my large cnc is made from 2 pieces of 18 mm mdf board sandwiched together. The top sheet has the seal grid machined into it and the bottom sheet has all the vacuum channels machined into it. They are then glued together. I had then to seal it with 3 coats of sanding sealer and I mean all over this then allowed it to draw a vacuum. I was going to machine the table from 30 mm plastics. This was a cheaper solution

What is the advantage of the vac pod if you have to glue to a substrate, couldn't you just glue to a solid block and get the same if not better functionality? What am I missing?
@Tonys.Top.Tips.Workshop
@Tonys.Top.Tips.Workshop 3 ай бұрын
Hi thanks for your question, yes you are correct you could just glue straight to a clamped down base board. Using vac pods or a vacuum table like I have on my pro machine is the ease of use and no metal clamps protruding. The disadvantage is you cant cut through as you would hit your vac pod or vac table resulting in loss of vacuum. So if you glued your material down to a sub strate you could cut through. It is just another way of securing you job to machine at the end of the day you use what is best for you and your skills.

The white pod is awesome. It looks like nylon... Btw Zortrax products are really expensive. Then we expect some difference of quality

Hi thanks for your comment, the white one is hips done on the Zortrax m200 it was my first printer when they first came out, so had it a few years fantastic prints from it but not anywhere near the speed of the Bambu Lab x1c.
@joetkeshub
@joetkeshub 3 ай бұрын
@@Tonys.Top.Tips.Workshop Meaning that Zortrax is a serious brand as they claim. I've heard many good opinions on Bambu Lab x1c but the Chinese are in a merciless competition in the sector and competitors like the new Qidi looks like a terrific BL's contender at half of x1c's price. Anyway, as you fairly mentioned, devices are as good as you use them for interesting projects flawlessly, which is the case of Zortrax and X1C.

Hi thanks for your kind comment and subscription, I was an apprentice trained wood machinist as well as cabinet maker. I have had a pro CNC for a number of years and 3d printers and laser engravers. I just try to help those in need as I have had help from others. Cheers Tony

@@Tonys.Top.Tips.Workshop You're a good person Tony. The world does need people like you. Like you I've been using a CNC but a smaller and cheaper than yours for years. But my 2 favorite devices are laser engravers and my 5yo CReality CR10-mini which had a bigger usable volume than the recent 3D printers despite its pretty slow speed... Looking forward to watching your next post Tony. Have a nice sunday Sir.
