I've listened to this numerous times today and it's easily my favorite from what I've heard on this channel so far! Absolute premium gold. I first heard of the OP-1 last week and seeing two in action is awesome. I'm really curious how this compares to something like Maschine, though. I've never learned Maschine beyond the absolute basics and most of the time I do more with clicking my mouse in the Maschine software than I do dabbling with the controls of the device itself. So I'm considering whether I commit to learning the device more (which has always felt like a slog) or get into devices that likely have a more intuitive or simple learning curve and work flow. I wasn't looking into the OP-1 in twrms of potentially buying one vut after seeing this video, it's all about having two on me at all times. Now I iust need to budget for an extra 5K+ ha Also, what exactly is Synplant? I'm assuming presets of some sort were used ror this piece? Thanks again!
@viennabonaparte11 күн бұрын
Thanks for the kind words! Thanks for all the support and comments. These are the first Gen OP's, still expensive but good deals can be had if you can find them. I love them but they have quirks. I remember this taking a long time to prepare because I was hearing random pops at the loop end/start points. Sampling in stuff can be a nightmare sometimes, there is definately easier and cheaper ways to perform. Synplant is a program that recreates any synth sound, really powerful algorithms power it, but results vary. Worth checking out if you like FM synthesis and would like to create patches etc
@Shmuptopia10 күн бұрын
I wonder if the more recent iteration(s) of the OP-1s have dealt with some of these things or if they all perform relatively the same. In any event, I have been booting up Maschine the last two nights - first time in ages and it's great getting back to musical creativity. I've felt very inspired to post my ideas on KZfaq on a new account since this one is a little too dedicated.
@viennabonaparte10 күн бұрын
@@Shmuptopia I think the same quirks are present on the new op1's too, but not too sure. Let me know when you post them, interested in seeing how the maschine works!

@@viennabonaparteThanks for all of the responses and information. I'll let you know when I get a channel set up and some initial uploads. Given my basic understanding, nothing will be too advanced or even do justice to Maschine's capabilities.
@Shmuptopia12 күн бұрын
From what I can tell, you've grown your channel half way to 1K by simply sharing tidbits of your music. This is wild and I think if you were ever inclined to grow things further and branch out, you would easily pull in a much larger audience who would really appreciate your music and sounds. have you ever considered putting together basic tutorials for some of your devices? Or even things like your favorite machines? It would be fascinating to hear given the wide range of products you have at your disposal. Do you have any experience with Maschine by Native Instruments?
@viennabonaparte11 күн бұрын
Thanks for the tips! I’ve done a few basic tutorial vids alright on the m8 and some pedal/vst demos. They never seem to do to well but they are very basic. I will have a think on some vid ideas and might put a good one together. I never used a maschine, but I like NI stuff, I have a few vsts from them.
@Shmuptopia11 күн бұрын
@@viennabonaparteIt could be due to the videos having a more basic approach. If they were also only text on screen, that might factor in as well. I don't think you'd need to do anything as committed as actually being on camera but being able to hear a voice goes a long way. As a viewer, it's a way in which to better connect with the person providing the information. Just some thoughts. Also, I think I see a Ganz cube there. Have you ever delved into any abstract cubes? I have some pretty wild ones over here, though these days I don't use them. In any event, thank you for all of your responses.

@@Shmuptopia Thanks for the information, yea i agree with what you are saying. Yea, thats a Gan, have a 11/12/13, i also have a 2x2 but none of the cooler cubes :) trying to get quicker at cubing but still just a fun thing to do to, I'd love to get to 30 seconds consistently but I dont do it consistently enough.
@Shmuptopia10 күн бұрын
Consistently will certainly come with regular practice. I never got too into speed cubing but I remember it didn't take long to hit just a little over 40sec for 3x3. I think it was in the first week of having it. I never pushed beyond that, though and these days, I barely recall the algorithms. I can muscle memory solve 2x2 but it's been ages since I was deeply invested in cubing. Thanks again.@@viennabonaparte

Really enjoyed the light, laid back feel of this one. Also reminds me of Stardew Valley slightly. By the way, how do you record these? The audio sounds almost too clean and crisp to be a simple matter of your camera mic picking it up, so are you recording it on a computer and syncing the footage with the audio after? Great setup as always.

Thanks for commenting on my vids and checking them out! It does depend, in general I record them into ableton, I dont use post production though as i like hearing the raw sound of each machine i use.
