Such a crazy conversion since the Suburban in this body style hadn't come out for about another three years. Somehow they made the bed and cab seamless like a Suburban.

Yes, you can totally do that but the rear body mounts will be different. The main reason I kept the front of mine is for the Vin numbers California is especially weird about cab swaps and what not.

@@flossymissiles i am from nj i don’t believe they care about cab swaps much but they love copying california is laws so don’t know if they will change that i m planning on using a single cab do you know if that would be easier or the same understand body mounts might not be placed the same not that hard to cut them off and hold them though

They are great if you live in a warm climate. They get very brittle when cold and will break if you live in the snow belt.

thanks for posting, my oversize wheel and vancafe spare tire carrier pushed the tire up into my linkage, I could not find any of my gears, so I bent something or pushed something out of alignment, -- I see the spline joint so I can take it apart to work on it and also the "box". I had great shifting, then really unuable Janky shifting...hope to get it fixed today, May 2024.

oh man the hardest part by far is getting the crossover breather tube fittings into the grommets on top of the tank once the tank is in place. I've watched 10 other videos and cannot see an easy trick. I'm trying to reach in behind to that awkward spot and apply pressure down, but I'm afraid I"m going to break the plastic fitting. YOu took the wheel off to get at it, but I can't see how that's going to help: still have to reach back to that awkward spot. GoWesty video shows inserting those fittings before tank is fully lifted into place, but I can't see how that's possible. That crossover is not super flexible and if it bends, it's not going to reach across the tank to line up the grommet holes. I cannot get this effing thing in, no matter how much lithium grease I use. DAMN, there's always something that makes it harder than it should be, hey?!!!

CRF 110 flange fits I found so I’ll be modifying a standard CRF 110 exhaust to fit hopefully 👍🏻

Hell yeah bro, thanks for making this video. I feel more confident in restoring my top. I have never done anything to mine since I got the bus over 15 years ago. The canvas is toasted and the fiberglass top has mold and the fiberglass is worn out. You can see the fibers. Why did you choose that paint? Is it okay not to use a primer? Is it okay for fiberglass?
