I liked Peter as Angela's husband. They had great chemistry and it was nice to see Angela with a love interest.

The shocking revelation that Richard is Angela's son made a mockery of Jacqueline's tragic death when Julia shot her at the end of season 2. "JULIA DON'T SHOOT !! RICHARD IS ..." BANG.

Well done, but somehow almost an insult to Jane Wyman who wrote the original speech herself (that it was not good enough and needed some additional named characters). It's amazing and also frightening what AI can do.

The show jumped the proverbial shark when they made Richard, Angela Channing’s son. By doing so, means that two seasons prior, Richard slept with his Maternal half-aunt Francesca Gioberti. The dynamic between Angela and Richard was much greater when he was the son of Angela Channing’s fiercest enemy, Jacqueline Perrault. Also Lana Turner was perfect as Jacqueline Perrault. It was such a shame that Lana and Jane didn’t get along offscreen. Also the show was never the same once they killed off Chase Gioberti. History of shows like these have always proven that when a hot show loses its main original characters, the show goes into decline. Example when Patrick Duffy left Dallas and came back, the show declined and the nail in the coffin came when Victoria Principal left the show and Dallas did a nose dive in which it never recovered.

Conveniently forgetting show history is not without precedent: Knots Landing naming one of Val's twins after "recently deceased" Uncle Bobby (and completely ignoring that his "death" was a dream). The best example, though, is when "Dallas" made Ray Krebs Jock's illegitimate son, conveniently (and forever more) forgetting Ray's tryst with Jock's granddaughter Lucy in the miniseries/season 1. In a daytime serial consisting of 2.5 to 5 hours a week for decades, these kinds of inconsistencies are willingly overlooked (if not entirely forgotten) for the sake of story, a much harder leap for serials consisting of one hour a week.

And for what it's worth, IMHO, Falcon Crest jumped the shark with the buried treasure storyline, long before we learned Richard was Angela's son.

Ugh. It’s terrible. So tortured and retconned. If this is true, then Jacqueline Perrault’s treatment of Richard earlier in the series makes NO sense. Nor does it make sense that Douglas Channing hid Angela’s baby from her. It was established early in the series that he still loved her and their different career ambitions made it impossible for their marriage to work. A plot twist worthy of a daytime soap opera, written for people who have low standards for writing.
