For Riva

Riva will be sorely missed, and we're still incredibly broken and empty without her here with us. I do not wish to speak on the events leading up to her passing, mostly because there really wasn't anything noteworthy - her passing took everyone by surprise. The vet college kept her stable overnight but she passed away the following morning. The vets assured us we brought her in at the right time, and we did everything we should have when she started feeling poorly. Her tests and scans revealed nothing.
It doesn't get any easier...and it's made me reflect and realize that I am probably done taking on new ferrets. My loving crew of Pazu, Appa, Momo and Remy will likely be my last. I struggle dealing with heartbreak and this time really rocked me at my core - I have never felt so depressed and hopeless in my life. I'm getting better day by day but it's hard.

Please read the video description. Thank you everyone who welcomed Riva into their life and enjoyed her spunky, fun little attitude. It warms my heart that she made you all smile and laugh seeing her in videos. She also helped me continue to educate the world on ferret care and the true nature of ferrets. Her physical self may not be here anymore but I feel her everyday, and her impact in the world is everlasting. x

I'm so sorry for your loss.. It is very hard to say Good-Bye.. i know i've held and helped 50 plus cross rainbow bridge. I cry i grieve but knowing so many more need help i just cant stop. it does take a huge toll on the emotions. Riva was a Beautiful girl you we're blessed to have met her and enjoy the fun, laughter and sweeet cuddles she brought to your life. DIP sweet Riva.. Dook, Dance, and be free. And for what it's worth, it always hurts to lose a loved one, but I never imagined how hard it would hit me when we lost our first...indescribable I guess❤❤❤

I am so sorry about Riva, my brand new rat Shiloh died at just 8 weeks after numerous visits found out he had heart disease. It's heart breaking I won't be getting anymore ferrets once they've passed severely impacts you're mental health. I also don't think their is enough knowledge in vets in anything other then a cat or dog. Rip Riva xx

I am so, so sorry for your loss Bryn... Please know you are in my thoughts during this extremely difficult time. Riva is across the rainbow bridge playing with my boy Stratus with no more aches or pains. ❤️ We lost our boy far to young also.. he was only one month away from turning two. He was taken by a cancerous tumor that formed in an extremely short amount of time right where his stomach met his intestinal track. It is so hard, and I am so sorry again for his devastating loss to your family. :(

Sending hugs your way! I'm in vet med and deal with it daily and know all the things to cope. Truth is it doesn't get easier. So my advice is do you. Cry when you need to. Scream if you have to. Eat a pint of ice cream for dinner. It's ok.

I felt the same way when my baby Biggie Cheese passed I was so heartbroken I had never experienced a pain that deep with anyone. I just try to help myself but thinking of all the good memories with him and like you said taking 1 day at a time. Coming these few weeks will be the 1 year since he left me.

I sadly lost one of my pets as well last week. I came back to rewatch this video with a heavy heart, it did make me tear up. I decided not to take on anymore rats due to their short lifespan, my current boys will be last so I completely understand why you're making that decision. The grief is a lot, due to my poor mental health every death wrecks me to my core. My heart is with you, losing a pet is just like losing family members. I really wish you the best, and I am deeply sorry for your loss. Keep moving forward, as hard as it may be. You got this, and you will be reunited some day. x

my ferret Khione had the exact same problem. She was a rehome ferret that was horribly neglected by previous owners. When I got them they were so skinny and boney, but so sweet. So I plumped them up and were living a comfortably and happy. 4 months into having her, she went limp in the back, stopped eating and drinking. Took her to the vet and they had no clue what was wrong. Even took X-Rays free of charge. They recommend me to go see a specialist but the day before going she had passed. I was so heartbroken and still am. I feel your pain and confusion. Take time to heal. Riva is resting peacefully. 💕

This is why I don’t think I can take on any new ferrets. Riva came from a great home, and she was super healthy! I thought she would be with me the longest as she was the youngest. But blink one day and they’re gone the next. I can’t keep doing it. There’s no rhyme or reason to it - I’ve been struggling to cope with her loss. Very confused and hurt. We miss her so much. I’m sorry for your loss of Khione.

Everytime I see a video like this it makes me tear 😢 I have 3 myself lost 2 and I'll tell you as you know it's tough. May Riva Dook in peace. She's playing at Rainbow Bridge with all the others 😃

Bryn there really aren’t words to describe you. The things you do for others around you is incomparable. I know Riva is out there somewhere, maybe playing with the business of lost weenie souls. These memories are beautiful and I’m really proud of you for putting this video together. It’s not an easy thing to do

I'm so sorry for your loss, it's so sad and meaningless... I didn't know her personally but it really touches me, I even cried when I saw the pictures -_- . Be strong, telling yourself that she had a beautiful life filled with love, attention and abundance, and that where she is, there is no more suffering. Everything is energy and energy cannot die, you will both find each other again... Strength to you ❤‍🩹🙏

I'm so sorry for your loss darling, such a shame this angel lived so short, yet, I'm happy that she had her best life with you and rest of the crew, I know she had best buddies in the world, and you were one of them. Stay strong, I'm sure she's still running somewhere trying to lick off your tears dear, I know she's happy and at her peace now.
