I’ve been so hesitant to paint black because it’s such a bold colour and I wasn’t sure how it would sell but I love it, and it’s going to its new owner tomorrow! I love black, the stained wood base and brass handles combo. I used SW Tricorn black. What do you think of this transformation?

When I picked up this dresser, I managed to pull out all the drawers but the bottom right corner, it worked but just couldn’t pull it out all the way so I painted around it. Then when I put all the other drawers back I noticed the top right drawer didn’t go in flush so I spent a little time pulling the bottom drawer out and realised it was never in the right place to start with and once I swapped drawers, they fit perfectly! So, double check your drawers if they don’t fit, might be as simple as switching them around to fix them!

The mold idea is brilliant! That was fun to watch. Love the color. I wanted the sage green. Turning it into mint was beautiful. Nice contrast color with the handles.

You know the saying, “Don’t judge a book by its cover?” Well, that goes for furniture pics too! This dresser was for free off FBMP, the seller only had one pic posted and it wasn’t very clear but the furniture looked like a good piece so I went with a hunch and grabbed it. So glad I did! It was in such good condition, apart from the broken legs and it was a West Elm dresser! So glad I got it! So, moral of the story, don’t skip past the ugly pics!😉

I’m dying to hear what you think of this flip! I asked and you all voted for me to stain these nightstands and well, I kind of stained, paint washed and did a faux wood look all in one. It definitely was a week of trial and error but hopefully I modernised them enough for someone on FBMP to be happy and buy them!! What do you think? Do these look more modern now?

The biggest MISTAKE I made when I started flipping furniture was thinking I had to know exactly what I was going to do with my furniture before working on it. It stressed me out! I didn’t enjoy the idea of planning every step because I never knew what I was going to do until I started. Now, I go into every project following these basic steps and my ideas come to me as I go😊: 1) Clean 2) Remove Hardware & Sand 3) Decide if I want to stain, paintwash or prime 4) Choose colours I want to use and hardware 5) Topcoat 6) Stage furniture, take pics and list on FBMP Are you a planner from the beginning or do you figure it out as you go?😊

Here are 3 things I stopped doing to help grow my furniture business: 1. I stopped buying tall boy dressers, coffee tables, and desks (unless someone commissions me to do them). These products don’t sell well in my area. What does sell well is low boy dressers and 2 nightstands so I stick to what sells. 2. I stopped scrolling past dark, blurry pictures on FBMP, sometimes those are the best buys! Some sellers can’t be bothered taking good pictures in well lit areas. I recently bought two sets of nightstands for $60 because the pictures were so bad but I made over $500 profit from them! 3. Don’t buy furniture with broken drawers. I used to buy any piece of furniture but now I always ask if the drawers work before purchasing. The time spent fixing broken drawers for me is just not worth it anymore. I’d rather skip the hassle all together! What helps you sell furniture in your area?

Ok, I used to rush like a mad man to pick up free furniture when listed but here’s some tips. If the person who list it gives address on listing, it is 99% guaranteed the furniture is already taken even if you’re less than 10 mins away (I know!😂). If you read, “first come” or “no holds” it is 99% of the time gone as well, even if it was just posted, people are fast! I never bother when I see those statements now, I’d rather save my gas😆.
