Australian gun law are the worst all semi auto rifles no matter the caliber are heavily restricted same with pump action shot guns and semi auto shotguns and toy guns like airsoft and gel blasters are classified as weapons of mass destruction and are banned and our laws are getting worst like Police can ban any gun they want just because they don’t like the look of it also known as appearance laws

Its so frustrating trying to find a club. Everywhere is "not accepting applications at this time" or runs a cult like joining process where you must know someone or get an existing member to sponsor you. Im sick of it. How hard is it to start your own club?

This is complete bollocks. The Police decide if you get a firearm. I owned my first gun ( aya 20 bore) in 1978. I've shot at national and international level. The vast majority of soldiers in the British armed forces can't get a shotgun licence.
@UKGuns
@UKGuns 3 күн бұрын
@michaeldoolan7595 utter nonsense. This is not only EXACTLY how I obtained MY firearms licence but also how dozens of my friends and fellow members did too. Which, by the way include SEVERAL serving soldiers. The only issue serving armed forces can sometimes have is a place to store the firearm/shotgun because they can really only do that if they have their own home off camp. But if they meet the criteria they can and DO obtain licences. I do explain in the video that the Police is who you apply to, so I dont even know why you put thay comment about the Police deciding? Please dont go around making baseless claims based on your own cynicism and/or anger. Do better.

And the law today is far stricter than it was best part of 50 years ago, and that's a shotgun not a section 1 firearm🙄 yes, the video fails to cover the pest control side of acquiring a ticket but if he only shoots targets he may not know or want to risk giving incorrect information.

@UKGuns I did but I'd already posted the comment when you explained that part, I understand where you were coming from but it's one of those things which is so misunderstood anyway, like people thinking an ar15 is an assault rifle, and whilst I get the logic I can't agree with it as it quite simply is not an m4. When there is as much wrong information reported as there is anyway I simply cannot get behind something which is fundamentally wrong like here. Its like driving an automatic car and saying its manual just because its a copy of a manual conceptually.

I'm irish, and have lived in England since I was 22. I was born in Newry, County Down, which straddles the artifical border separating the occupied counties of the North and the free state, and I was born on the very day Bobby Sands died on hunger strike in the H blocks. The north erupted into riots and gun battles on May 5th, 1981, and it remained that way for the entire summer, as nine more young men starved themselves to death to protest against the criminalisation of their legitimate resistance to foreign tyranny. For te next 21 years of my life, gun battles, shootings, murders and maimings were a constant in my life. Guns were EVERYWHERE in the Republican housing estates and our neighbourhoods back then. I left for England when I was 21, and have lived in absolute peace for the second half of my life. I can categorically state, for the Americans and Australians looking down on England for not having lax gun laws, that life is infinitely more enjoyable when you live in the absence of firearms. Ive lived precisely half my life in a country which had guns and where shootings and the THREAT of shootings was a constant and continual presence, and I've lived the other half of my life in a country where I haven't seen or heard a single shot or firearm in 21 years. As much as the guns were there for our protection, we were always conscious that the people who those guns were there to protect us from ALSO had guns, and they intended to shoot us with their guns. That fear never leaves you when guns are all around you. Maybe it's obvious that the war in Ireland had two distinct sides, making it easier to distinguish friend from foe, just knowing that there were men out there who had guns and wo were looking for someone like ou to shoot, it dominated every aspect of our lives. Mum would go shopping when It was busy in case gunmen wanted to take out a large group. We had to be escorted to school, often by men with guns. We had armed men patrolling the streets outside our houses. We had armed men SHOOTING each other outside our houses. Im rambling on a bit here, but my point was this: The absence of guns isn't a bad thing. I don't understand why some commenter are ridiculing us for this lifestyle choice. In my life I've been very lucky o have made the acquaintance of many americans in Ireland, and England, and each time we've discussed the gun situation, every single American I spoke said how wonderful it was to experience our way of life In Britain. I'd encourage all of you to come and visit us, just once at least, to experience what a gunless society feels like.

If you have had treatment for depression in the past but are ok now, will this be used against you to stop you getting a certificate?
@GanymedeXD
@GanymedeXD 2 күн бұрын
Impossible to say without providing any information. Who diagnosed it, have you been under specialist services, did you require admission, detention, have you been suicidal, was alcohol involved, illegal drugs, what was the exact diagnosis (mild, moderate, severe, with/without psychosis etc), how long ago, are you fully recovered, any ongoing problems, any acute crisis history, did you fully comply with treatment. Was it a clinical depression or was it reactive to stress/life events or grief? Often this is misdiagnosed as depression … often it is just a Depressive Adjustment Disorder means no acute mental illness … depressed mood only being reactive to life circumstances. GP’s too quickly prescribing anti-depressants and diagnosing depression. A large number of GP depression diagnoses turn out not being clinical depressions or acute mental illnesses at all. Them labelling a natural adjustment reaction as mental illness. Even some Psychiatrists do not bother assessing it properly. For the license you need a letter from your GP. In summary … depending on the above details it could cause problems getting one.
