my player character is a sprite (but in a 3D project, think Paper Mario), so I need him to be able to switch into 4 different idle and walking animations depending on the direction he's facing. I'm not quite sure how to do that yet. edit: I followed your video, "Movement using Gamepad and Keyboard (Unity Tutorial)" as well as Velvary's video, "How To Animate Your 2D Character in Unity" then had GPT rectify parts of the code that didn't mesh well and it's working beautifully! exactly as intended. the sheer simplicity of the code from your video helped a ton with making that work in my favor. very easy to follow and make the appropriate changes to. and I implore anyone to watch BOTH of these videos in order to achieve the "paper" effect of having sprites in a 3D environment. there are tutorials on that specifically, but I personally didn't find any of them helpful.

every other tutorial I've seen so far has been the kind where the guy skips actually explaining things to waffle about other things I don't understand. even with the most useful one I was able to find prior to this, I had to watch it in 0.75 speed because the guy was annoyingly fast. I was like "brother in Christ, this is a tutorial, not an auction" TL;DR thanks for explaining this so that normal people can understand it and not assuming I know important steps intermediate devs consider intuitive when they're really not.

I tried this entire tutorial twice, rewrote the script completely each time, both with different character controllers. I could never get sliding to work. It turns out, you want to remove "+ Vector3.up" from line 135 at 1:56 and that fixes it.
@dkordy9 күн бұрын
Thank you very much, if I hadn't read this comment I would have gone crazy, I would have had to create a new script to control the player. Throwing out Vector .up is exactly what was bothering me about the player sliding nicely down the slop. Thank you

Hi, I was wondering how you got that ”Display Box” when writing code in visual studio. Like for example at 5:19 when yo’re writing code it pops up a little box that tells you information about the setlayermask. Is there anything that you gotta download? And if so please could you please tell me how to download it?

Don’t worry about it I fixed it 😃

Just by changing the size of each cell you will have a more open sort of maze. Like Wolfstein 3d

Wow! Sweet stuff! Unity is awesome 🎉 would be nice to add code to the script to create a second floor. So, when the algorithm stops. It's time to move to second floor but there needs to be a connection to the floor below. Stairs or ladders! Then when you set y= 0 just make it y = 1. I will try it out

there was an error when I added the serialized field it says. Assets\Script\game\player\playermovement.cs(8,6): error CS0246: The type or namespace name 'serializedfield' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
