brilliant! simple and effective. srsly wouldnt have thought of it myself. after decades of index finger usage it's naturally awfully hard to retrain the brain, but if one's finger is /wasted/, it's a good solution. thanks!

Apple support is pretty much non existent unless you pay and then its wipe and start again. My parents' quartz wall clock is eating up 1.5 volt batteries. My father says a single 1.5 V battery used to last at least an year; now it seems a 1.5 v battery won't even last 4 months. What could be the issue? Is it possible friction between the gears has increased overtime due to dust or due to general wear and tear? Thanks

Sadly not, after the CIA and the FBI were trying to use USB connections to hack terrorist phones Apple made a simple software change that switches of the USB until the passcode stage has been run. It displaces all the dead human and animal cells and micro fibres from the lubricant that has turned to sludge and allows the unit to work again. We got a Thunder Tumbler at a garage sale but it won't work. Batteries are good. When turning on remote it lights up steady red. When turning on car it lights up steady red. Any ideas?

You need to take the batteries out and video it as you dismantle it, as you do occasionally put the batteries back in and test it, often the gears have broken or just become jammed and once released it will start working again and you can rebuild it by reversing the video you made. It sounds like dirt it stopping the cogs from meeting properly and when it gets the the jam the gear slips for a while causing the speed bump. Slowly dismantle it (video it as you do it) then reassemble which should dislodge the mass causing the problem. I believe you have a couple of errors in your understand of how the Toyota Hybrid system works. The ancillary systems which are switched on with the ignition are run on a 12V standard car battery and not the high voltage battery. It was this battery which was flat not the hybrid battery, that is why you had no ignition lights when you tried to switch on the car. You also mentioned an alternator, the system does not have an alternator or a starter motor, it has two motor generators in the gearbox which drive the vehicle and regenerate power when the vehicle is slowing down. The electricity from the motor generators runs through an inverter which charges both the high (I believe circa 200V) voltage battery and the low voltage battery at 12v. By effectively jump starting the low voltage battery you have provided power to the systems which in turn switch on the high voltage battery which then uses the motor generator to start the petrol engine. There is a cracking video on KZfaq somewhere with a cutaway model of the system. Your High voltage battery will take a very long time to discharge in the order of months not days, if the high voltage battery is flat then you will be unable to jump start the car with a 12v supply. The 12V battery is located under the rear seat with the high voltage battery, it’s probably time for a replacement, just like you would in a normal ICE car. They do stop holding charge after three to five years. Your Lithium high voltage battery is probably fine. Check the batter voltage when the car has stood overnight anything less than 12.3V and it’s definitely worth replacing. Having said that, you could try charging the battery via the terminal you used to jump start with a battery conditioning type charger. Hope that helps.

I thought I mentioned that as its a very small battery inside the car, your right about the alternator and starter I should have read up on it. The biggest mistake I made was not immediately recharging the battery pack I used, days later it was dead, in order to draw the current needed there was no protection circuitry on the pack so it drained then drop below the safe charging point and died. @@fixed1t I dunno about other people but I always screwed it back on when I crushed to bottle before putting it to plastic. I doubt there is a significant number of people who would throw the top to the different container. The only thing that this creates is a mess when you want to drink and the top then push the bottle a bit which causes you to spill it. In the end just a waste of time and resources for this change to bring only insignificant benefit

You do indeed have a second small 12Volt battery in your Yaris. It is probably under your rear right hand seat. It is this battery which is constantly keeping things like your engine computer, self locking, etc going when your car is turned off and locked. This is why when you leave the car parked for a few days, the little battery goes flat. Imagine what you would come back to after flying off for a fortnight holiday. Toyota could fit a bigger battery to cope with this situation, or perhaps fit a solar panel in the roof of the car to charge the little battery. This would add weight to the car and would reduce Toyotas performance figures for the car, which might affect their sales profit. It would certainly make for happier Toyota Hybrid drivers if they did this.

Sad to hear it, did you watch the entire video, I think I mentioned you may need to repeat the process several times then wipe the lens of with strong alcohol. I used Medi-swabs injection swabs. Thank you for the video and for everyone's comments here! I had tried cleaning the washer with no luck. Had a closer look this morning and found some air bubbles. As suggested I pricked these and replaced (with writing facing up!) and now seems to be watertight again.
