I need to do the timing chain and tensioners on a mk8 fk1 Honda civic hatchback it’s a 1.4 have you any videos that will help me? I’ve never done a timing chain before and all the videos I see is just the USA versions of the car(not the same engine) so I’m not sure if it will be the same or not

LOL, I don't trust any so called "mechanics", I have been failed so many times. I service my own car and having no issues at all. It is so much easier to do it yourself nowadays. It is not 1980 where there is no access to any help.

5:25 This is really clever by putting the wheels under the car as a Secondary safety measure, Because if the car fell off, then these wheels will keep breathing space under the car at least. This is really a Dangerous job. Please carry in your van 4 Wooden blocks, each 2 feet high. Then put those under the car after lifting it.

13:30 Wow!!! Excellent explanation, learnt a lot from you. Although i am not a Mechanic by profession, But by getting Ripped off from different Garages run by Cowboy Mechanic, i try to learn about car & fixed many things myself. I also bought an Autel scanner too & it helped me a lot, specially with DPF Regeneration.

I can’t really say it here unfortunately as it can be unfair for some garages if they charge less. Don’t want my content to be used against other quotes 😅

That BMW with the stuck lug bolts... I'm a mechanic but my work doesn't have a tire machine, so had to have the rear tires replaced at a shop. Same day I tried removing the wheels because I had a suspicion. Total of 3 bolts were completely stuck and wouldn't come out. So I went back and they had to use the air gun they use on lorries to get them off, and then they overtightened them again while I was watching! Before I drove out I loosened them all, and then tightened to spec (I brought my own torque wrench). Pretty annoying that you can't trust others in the trade to do it right

Please PLEASE tell me you required the customer to drive down the road with you sitting in the car! That driver needs to be instructed on proper clutch habits before being allowed to drive on the open road. That should absolutely be something you do simply to warranty your work for anything past taking it up the road yourself when you finish, because that is ridiculous!!

IN 1977 AT 17 YEARS OLD,I BUILT A 68 CHEVELLE SS396 with the square port racing heads etc.... an old race mechanic helped me put it together. i purchased a (zoom) brand off the shelf clutch. first time i drove it to town i had to be dragged home on the back of a wrecker. seems that when the clutch pedal was to the floor, there was still some friction , and then as i was going down the road in 4th gear and it would get sideways, that clutch just didnt have enough grip. yanked that garbage out and installed the one the previous owner had built by a clutch guy (Duglas Zahn, Arkansas brake and cutch) . previous owner quit building the car because of a divorce, but was an engineer and traded the entire factory engine for a set of square port racing heads with 3 springs to each valve. we also modified the throw on the clutch arm to increase.its movement. this new clutch was much stiffer and made my leg shake to keep it depressed, but it never failed like the ONE NIGHT STAND CLUTCH DID! by the way, im married to steffy, im NOT a girl!!lol youtube buffering lots of the videos i watch now, some wont even play more than 2 minutes and thats it!

Diagnosis is hard and customers don't like paying for it so Mechanics who can't diagnose always want to replace parts. There is also "some" court protection against it, as you have a new part and its then up to you to prove that the old part has the same amount of life. This should not apply to non-service parts that are supposed to last the life of the vehicle. You should explain the terms clearly, tell them you are recording the conversation, and invoice them if they don't pay, then take them to court for not paying.

As an asian automotive/airline mechanic of 42 years, I commend you guys, most young people these days are not motivated or mechanically inclined like yourselves. Both of you remind me of my buddy and myself doing side hustles when not working in the garage some 30 years ago. We had the occasional lousy customers, and few jobs that we thought we bit off a little more than we can chew, but we persevered and became even better mechanics. It's so great to have a good, knowledgeable partner/team...good luck to you guys! Liked and subbed.

Ran into this exact issue on a complete harness melt, caused by a $1 stereo install, on a two-year-old BMW 328i. Harness wasn't available at the OEM, so I had to grab a used one from the previous year. I had to add several additional circuits to the harness. It was a freaking nightmare job.
