So pretty much generic things that people routinely have evaluated at an ER or PCP. So enlightening

It doesn’t have to be zeroed at the phlebostatic axis. You are zeroing to atmospheric pressure, so it doesn’t matter where it is when you zero. But it must be leveled at the phoebostatic axis for accurate BP readings. You said it has to be zeroed there at the beginning, not sure if that was a slip up or not 🙃

I work nights and I fell asleep immediately after my shower. I awoke to what I believed was a ventilator alarm sounding and ran into the kitchen to find it was just the microwave beeping. My son just stood there looking at me like I was crazy. lol I told him I thought the microwave beeping was a ventilator. He told me to go back to sleep. 😂

The scrubs of shame is for real. If I see someone in hospital scrubs I assume they got poop, pee, emesis or blood on them. I also enjoy the holiday work vibe. You are all in the same boat and usually more time with patients like you said. Pot luck is much better than the provided holiday meals at most hospitals.

Although I am no longer an ICU nurse my word is monitoring. If you ask 10 physicians and 10 med surg nurses what is monitoring you will get 20 different answers.

Sometimes people are just destined to their job...The whole ICU staff in Newport Oregon in 2018 made my family whole ...someone who is 9-5 doesn't do a check up call, offer to bring you coffee...stays up on the phone for hours talking me out of a tree and away from a drink!
@rubypedersen55204 күн бұрын
6 years ago, the ICU nurses were more honest with me when my husband was moving on from pain...they loved his funny T shirts...they came to my home after he passed and I was blessed to give them their favorite shirts...I got more check in calls from them than family..my loss was eased by their kindness 💜💜💜

His eyes have been open and we needed to treat his eyes. So we not sure how well he can see. So we going to test this tomorrow with flash cards to see if we can determine a suitable flash card size to se if we can make a book to which he can nod or tap to the right letter. Will feedback on this course.

Currently having this challenge. We tried getting feedback with reciting the alphabet slowly and waiting for a tap. Limited results. We can have a head nod. But we have still diff to check comms on trying to spell a word.

Hi, Ashley! I really like watching your educational videos where you delve a little deeper into a particular area/skill/concept of bedside nursing. I find them so helpful since I'm new to the ICU. I also bought your critical care crash course, and I liked it a lot! Would it be possible to make videos where you discuss what to prepare/things/steps to do when you are having a patient that is currently being intubated/extubated? I know you addressed some of these before, but I just want to get a better understanding of them since I still haven't come across them often enough so I am still uncomfortable about them. Thank you so much!

I’m not in the medical field. Does this mean one nurse to one patient ratio bc of how sick a person is?
@stephanielong267410 күн бұрын
Yes I was in icu not logn ago actually been on the vent an trach 6 times also on the echmo machine. They have 1 nurse to 1 person. They either sit in the room with you or sit right outside the door with a huge window to look in. That way they can document everything but also be able to pay attention to your bp an breathing at all times.

I had another encounter with a RUDE orthopedic doctor. The annoying thing is both of them are contradicting each other and they are both rude. They bot CUT me off when I explain esp with the history. They freaking blame me for everything 🙄 Why didn't u buy this expensive injection and even surgery. Then the other would say, you shouldn't get this injection or surgery because that over acting. Like ugh
