Great radio traffic. No BS here. Just the critical business.

Man, the terminology is loose. "Go and get us another one if you will". Do you mean Load & Return? Also the first drop: air attack specifically said "heel to head" on the right flank, and the airtanker made the run in the opposite direction. Was there a change of plans that was edited out of the video?

My experience in the US is that the IC and on-scene air attack make quick decisions regarding the need for additional airtankers, but the behind-the-scenes process of approving, filling and dispatching those assets is extremely cumbersome and delay-prone.

True if outside CA. The ECC/GACC intercom system is something CA got right and should be adopted across the west. The difference in how fast you can get orders out and AC moving is staggering. Source: have done AC dispatch in CA and OR.

You can’t get training modules this fantastic for Initial Attack on air attack. This gives everyone an idea of how fires are being sized up,named, and initialized order for more heavy reinforcements from the air. Fantastic video with good highlights on radio transmission and how to use the radio correctly. There’s so many training subjects here that you may want to consider sending the video in to US Forest Service to be added to the training program. It could be used in several different areas of training!

What does IP stand for?
@larsjorgensen2911
@larsjorgensen2911 2 жыл бұрын
I believe they are using this the same as military aviation with IP meaning Initial Point. The last navigation way point before an aircraft begins its bombing run (or fire retardant drop). So they were setting a navigation point for the tankers 5 miles away where they would hold until released to make their drops.
@robsalisbury2550

That’s correct, they can also use it on larger fires as a check in point for aircraft coming from far away

When you say base station, do you mean the Radio Test Jig below the radio? If so, it appears to be p/n 04T139. As for where you can get one, you could try Dallas Avionics, they're a licensed dealer for TiL.
