This one sounds like a transition between Wild Mood Swings and Bloodflowers. Yet another gem by Robert Smith!

Trading about having no soul in ur music! Great band but this is just bad, they could've done it in so many ways but this just is not it.

This is a great song. Know it's not the Cure, but it's 1/3 of them and a pretty significant 1/3. Reeves guitar work is awesome. And the way Robert stresses and intonates the lyrics to make them all sound different even when they follow the same pattern is very skillful and subtle. No mean feat, and not easy to copy either. 10/10.

Worth of a band could be known only while listening to the music alone and you don’t wish for anything except their music.

Is the lady in the pic with Robert his wife or lover? I ask because I had heard that he had a lady in his life that had been his "true love", and had been with her exclusively for a long time. Most likely, it's her in that pic with him. And, I would think that he'd written songs about her. "Just like heaven" would be a great song for him to have written for her. But, I can't say for sure that he had. "Lovesong" too. Imagine how lucky a gal would be to have her man write her songs like those two great songs. I hope they are still together, but, sometimes reality steps in and reminds us that nothing is perfect, or is it?

Are you joking?? Yes. That's Mary in the photo. They met when they were both 14 and they're still together after 50 years! And yes he wrote both those songs for her. She's even the girl (ghost bride) in the Just Like Heaven video.

Corrected the lyrics to this beautiful song: It will be so perfect, I said Too beautiful for words It will be so perfect, I said My words are stupid, worthless, merely so much noise I want to cover up the wall Routines never really run the first time through Adapted for our latest ploy A pantomime of feeling good, good, good And waving as the smile drips in When really I have never cared less in my life To ever smile again I sit before the mirror white and draw my red eyes black My head is full of everyone you ever knew Reflected, tired and cracked My act is empty, hopeless with only so much to bluff A show to cover up the stain Of all this strewn to satisfy another to you in Acting out this tired charade A pantomime of feeling good, good, good, good, good And drowning as the smile drips out And really I have never cared less in my life If it ever turns around I sit before the mirror cold and paint my black mouth red Your head is full of everyone I ever knew Reflected, old and dead It will still be perfect, you said Too beautiful for words It will still be perfect

Robert glammed this up a lot adding bigger wave sounds and taking out the drip. So the stream is now a ocean which he prefers anyways. The lyrics "they say you'll be my ruin" sounds like Robert is saying moon instead. But his voice is like Rudolph the red nose reindeer to me. John Martyn's original is stripped down which I prefer.

I became a fan of John Martyn way back in the 70`s and it has grown ever since and that is how I discovered both Beck and The Cure. John is an outstanding musician that goes beyond boundaries combining all genres of music to a higher level. A Tribute To John Martyn is a hell of an album that outsmarts most tributes. The way Robert Smith covers him here is but one song that is deep and dark coming from a man that has all the credentials of an experienced genius.

I loved the way of describing Robert Smith's interpretation in this tribute to John Martyn and in general the whole comment, but I loved the evaluation of the interpretation and which I totally agree with, I think it is described perfectly.🖤
