There’s something about Lolirock artistic direction that I really like, it’s a mix between cute western cartoon and anime, a brash of fresh air from bean mouth cartoon imo.

Um so you probably won't see this but I'm having trouble with the outline as it seems to bleed when I color, could anyone give me tips on how to improve? (P.S I don't want to color first, it just makes my drawing look messy)

In this video, I'm using the Signo Uniball white gel pen (link in the description). It generally rotates between that one, Sakura Gelly Roll & Ohuhu white gel pen. :)

Is watercolor okay for alcohol markers or vellum board paper? (I don't have money to buy an alcohol marker paper 😭) i want to know any alternatives🥺
@SketchingwithRabbits2 ай бұрын
Watercolor paper or vellum bristol paper is fine too. The only downside is they would soak up more ink from the marker since they're made to be absorbent. :)

I've recently had the idea of attempting mixed, mainly to color lines on skin. I also think I'm going to go with black lineart whenever there's an overlap with clothing to show a clearer separation.

Late to the party I know, but where technology is technically all of the skills and tools and knowledge humans have, it'd be fun to have Tecna drawn to represent pre-digital technology like being able to conjure wheels, and levers, and wedges and such.

Thanks for this summary! I've read that the Sanjoki markers leave yellow stains on paper. Have you had this experience?
@SketchingwithRabbits5 ай бұрын
You're welcome! I've found most alcohol markers leave yellow stains/bleed through on paper. I've had this experience with many different brands, but to combat this, I usually put a piece of scrap paper in-between pages. This seems to help me :)

I've been trying to learn how to use alcohol markers for a little while now. I usually paint or draw but I thought it would be cool to learn. Ive been having a super difficult time with the blotchiness/streaks and I've looked all over online and everyone seems to have contradictory information 😓 I've tried the circular motion and the color is consistent and everything but when it dries I get this weird graininess/texture. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong or how I can avoid it while also avoiding the blotchiness and crap?
@SketchingwithRabbits5 ай бұрын
What type of paper are you using? And the markers? I find most alcohol marker artists have their own preferred technique, which can be why the information seems contradictory. Let me know and I'll try my best to help!

G'day. Thanks for the video. I (new to alcohol markers) last month purchased the Artify Brush markers in the 48 pack I believe it was - I found it to be a nice range, however, I felt it still missed some tones, like variety of purples and some other reds. I am unsure if it is just how I use the markers, but I found the brush tips wore fast. Anyhow, after some thinking, I just purchased the 80 pack of the Expert markers - These cost me $59.95Australian currency. I just painfully swatched both sides of the markers and so far I am happy with the variety. These were cheaper than Ohuhu would have been for me. I am hoping I don't wear the tips on this down as fast. Something I find weird, they only have the coloured part in one end of the markers. I know there are stickers as well, but this seems weird. The smell of the brush markers was overwhelming to start with, whereas I can barely smell this new set.
@SketchingwithRabbits5 ай бұрын
Hello! (Apologies for the extremely late reply). How are your markers holding up? I haven't found many of my marker tips to wear out. How much pressure are you applying? This can also be because of the paper you're using. If it's really absorbent, like watercolor paper, I can imagine the brush being used more aggressively to get the same effect. Let me know, I'd love to help!

Go for it, if you can! :) The coloring pages are definitely on thin paper, so it wouldn't be a bad idea to transfer them.

Beautiful!! How did you add the little freckles like?
@SketchingwithRabbits8 ай бұрын
You could add light freckles with colored pencils - it would give it a softer feel. The natural "spotting" from alcohol markers are because I layered the markers a lot. Hope this helps! :)
