Does it make sense to weld the other side to? Or does it have an effect like loosening the previous weld?

If you have poor weld penetration then go for the back if you have access. We do gas welding for fun but I wouldn't rely on it for when we need lots of strength like a go kart frame

@WeBuildStuff

This specific mill says not to roll hot material. The quench does a minimal harden. Most of the hardening happens during the rolling and it gets work hardened. This was also just an experiment that I filmed for some students

I'm a bit confused at the supports step. First you say you use 1/2" MDF to lay out the lines because that's what you're going to end up using but then you cut up 3/4" square strips out of 2x4's. Looking at the video, it looks like you're using the 1/2 lines to mark the edges against where you'll put the 3/4" supports.
@WeBuildStuff
@WeBuildStuff 27 күн бұрын
The thickness of the strips isn't super important as long as one edge lines up perfectly with your layout lines. I do like 3/4 thick supports as it is easier to attach the t-nuts due to the fastener width. The 1/2 thick lines are so I can see where my 1/2 thick mdf panels will be going

@@WeBuildStuff since this video is 5 years old I'm just wondering if there are any updates to your recommendations for the Raspberry Pi, components, software, etc. or if everything in this original video still applies as is.
@WeBuildStuff
@WeBuildStuff 8 күн бұрын
@@camaperture8116 the main idea of the components are the same. You need a screen, buttons, audio, computer board (odroid, pi, old laptop, etc) for the front end software and games, etc I would totally use the newest version of a Raspberry Pi . Some of the cables will be different (the newest Pi doesn't have an AUX output for sound) but overall it is still just a cabinet that holds stuff. Make budget and buy components that will work for you😀

With "basic tools"... not even you buy that lie.
@WeBuildStuff
@WeBuildStuff Ай бұрын
Basic not primitive. A circular saw, jigsaw, router, and nailer are basic carpentry tools that 13 year olds learn to use in my classes. All can be bought used for cheap and are basic hand-woodworking tools. "Fancy and not basic" to me would be stationary equipment like a tablesaw, industrial thickness planer and jointer setup. This isn't five minute crafts using cardboard and paperclips or 'primitive' building with sticks and mud.

You do terrific videos with great detail but I need to make an arcade for a 20 inch monitor and have no idea of where to start. How do I go about drawing and cutting out the first two items that you say I should start with: the sides. This is to be a bar top arcade. But I don't know how to relate what I need to draw to my monitor size??? Sorry, probably basic question.

Holy cow you did all that with a number 0? I use a 3 for brazing copper and I was looking to dip my toes into welding. I like a nice roaring spitting flame for brazing in the wind and a more gentle roar with little spitting for brazing inside/without wind. You can also notice with a nice super hot flame that the weld/braze is done "locally" like with your second take where the outer edge of the workpiece wasn't even glowing yet while you were laying your bead.

@WeBuildStuff
@WeBuildStuff Ай бұрын
I use the sticky wax as a temporary way to attach the sprue to the model. I then suggest to use some additional melted wax (blue or green strong stuff) to reinforce. I am by no means an expert since I dont practice much but I can usually get good results for students when they make their own models from wax blanks
