I dont understand these travel vlogs sometimes. You go to all the touristy, expensive places you see on tiktok and instagram and then complain about the prices. Ive never paid anywhere close to 10 dollars for a coffee. My daily visit to a local grocer(center of copenhagen) on my workbreak i buy a coffee for 12 dkk (1.74 usd). If youre used to going to starbucks getting a latte americano espresso macchiano vente caramel three pumpchump vanilla syrup whip cream with three dingleberries on top you have to pay the price.

I love that you did one of Nimes and Avignon. A lot of people don’t think of these areas but out of all the places in the world I think it’s the best fit for me. I’m moving from the United States but I’ve only ever been to Paris. I was sold on France and Europe in general after Paris and I was intent on moving there but then I started learning about southern France. I already liked France before but now I’m certain. I have been enjoying what I see of this area (aix, Montpellier, Nimes, Marseilles) I haven’t been to this area in person and there are no vlogs about life in this area. Not many people seem interested in it, I’ve been curious what other people think about it. It’s nice to hear a second opinion. I’m glad you loved it so much, it’s a positive sign! I wasn’t sure how it was compared to other smaller French cities. A lot of them look so similar especially on camera. All of them look like a picturesque place for a stroll (not a bad thing). So many subtleties you can probably only pick up on in person. I can’t wait to see it for myself! I wanted to visit Avignon, it’s helpful to hear it’s boring! Spend a weekend in Nimes soon if you can and show us around!

Hi🙂 Sad hearing about you feeling lonely in Sweden😪I am Swedish myself and swedes are quite introvert 😐 I think you should do a little bit of research about the countrys you're going to visit,about the people,traditional s.Swedes like to keep them to themselves a lot and i think that's what many foreign people will experience coming to Sweden😟 No,Sweden is not some kind of Disneyland 🥳 Perhaps Sweden is not for you🤔

LOVE YOUR VLOG. I'm heading to Hamburg in June for 2 weeks. and totally agree with you that only having 2-3 days in any destination makes it impossible to really get the vibe and any sense of what locals experience.

Wow, i am a narcissistic local copenhagener who once in a while watch travel videos of my wonderful city, but honestly most videos totally fail to capture what is actually great about the city, but yours certainly does! I am very impressed with your eye (video work) for the spaces and the people that actually create the great feeling you get. If you come back then get one of the locals to show you even more unknown spaces - the once that are left of you 98 pct. of the videos of Copenhagen. One little note on the danes not being nice or polite (of what word did you use?): I think you will see it differently once learn and understand the social codes and norm here. What you understood as coldness or distance is actually a way a showing respect for the sovereign person you are and your right to be unencumbered as you walk about! Great work :-)

Hey, great video. I love the honesty. For your next visit, here is some pointers from a Dane. Going out for coffee and such, id a fairly new thing in Denmark. We used to have "Pub's" where you could get coffee, beer or spirits, but not a lot of cafe's. we had some, that was for the richer people. And then back in the 80's and 90's, we started getting McDonald, Burger king, 7-11, Starbucks , pizza places and Shawarma places. Pizza and Shawarma was ok priced, but everything American, was expensive, and it has only gotten worse. So what might be very cheap in America, is actually expensive here. Just cause people would pay a lot more, just because it was American. People was used to making food at home, and still that is what most people do. You can buy ingredients for a steak dinner for two made at home, for the same amount of money as it cost to get two burger menu's. Eating out/getting fast food, is not the cheap way to go in Denmark. It is not easy when you do not have a kitchen. But an alternative can be to find the Danish fast food places or restaurants, that are not hyped up. The ones you hear about, is probably not the cheap ones. A good idea is to ask the Danes around you. Most will be happy to help if you ask. They might not offer, but if you ask, most will do their best to help. So ask about cheap but good food. Most know what is in their area of the city. I hope you are able to come back, and enjoy the all the things you didn't get too, at your first visit. Kind regards here from Denmark.

You really should try Käsespätzle in Swabia or Bavaria. They are soooo much better, than what I could see in your pan. Also, everyone (tourist) thinks the salad is just meh, but it is essential. A fork full of Käsespätzle with salad together. Actually pour the salad as is over the dish. The acidity and freshness of the salad is ideal to counter the heaviness of the Käsespätzle. It also changes the dish completely...for the better. Käsespätzle have to be creamy and if they aren't, you are in the wrong place. ;-)

Minimum wage in Denmark is pretty high. I work 3 days a week, and make about 2400 dollars a month after taxes. That is not to say that everyone is rich, because as you said, Prices are very high. Hope you enjoyed your trip regardless of breaking your budget.

yea, Denmark is an expensive land to live or visit, but there's a hack..... you move here get paid whilst you get a college degree or trade skill and then you get a job with a Danish wage and 10$ for an ice latte will seem normal ;) enjoy

This may come across as racist, but Philippino and Thai looking people don’t have a good reputation in Denmark in general. Most of it comes from them coming here as AuPairs looking for a husband so they can send money to their family / village back home and they will literally drain a man for everything he owns in favour of whomever they send money to. Sorry for being the messenger, but it’s the truth. Just look at every single dating site / app here in Denmark and they are full of Au Pairs from the Philippines or Thailand, who are all “ looking for something serious”. I am not saying this as an any kind of justification or implying that this is okay. I am saying this because that might be why you didn’t have the best experience socialising with danish people. In my own experience (as a Dane) socialising and making friends here is very different from other countries, a lot of” how well you socialise” has to do with the way you approach people and the way you show that you can add value to a friendship with them. While I can’t give you any good examples, it’s just something to have in the back of your mind when you talk to people here, which is that friendships in this country are based on value and trust. What I mean by that is that if you are just seen as a “here today; gone tomorrow” tourist, then no one is going to be your own free private tour guide or spend their entire weekend showing you around….as some American tourists seem to expect when they come here…..no understand that people here have lives, careers, their own friends and families to take care of and they will OBVIOUSLY prioritise these first….for many of us the weekend is the only time we get to spend with our family and friends…or do any kind of relaxation. So in other words; make yourself seem like an interesting person and someone who is worth spending time on and with (I don’t know how to phrase that any differently, so sorry if it sounds harsh). However, with all that said, the best place to make friends in Denmark is not at work or on the street. Best places are social events, concerts or if you attend / play any sports or similar….also look for people who are single and looking for new friends….in general don’t expect someone who’s married and /or have kids to have a lot of spare time …some might, but just don’t expect everyone to.

Wow, don't think this comment made her feel like Danes are any less of some douchebags....Sounds like you need professional help getting over your trauma with au pairs & help with understanding Asian culture. & your remark on the "here today, gone tomorrow" speaks volumes about you as a person too...Idiots, racists & douchebags exists all over the world...

What I've heard about Danes' reaction to a stranger casually chatting them up: "Why is this person talking to me? I do not know them."
@JJ-fromDK
@JJ-fromDK 8 ай бұрын
@@1hoseeman It can be that way, but that would mostly be between danes them selves, if a tourist came up asking for help the person would most likely get help, also it depends how you approach people, in Denmark it is no different :0)

There is a 25% sales tax included on everything you buy in Denmark, which is one of the reasons why everything seem so expensive. I should say, that living here is not all that expensive. I'm a home owner, of a 95 m2 = 1,022.5 sq. ft. house in the outskirts of the 2nd largest city in Denmark. Partly renovated in late 2021 (new 3-layer/triple pane windows, new doors, new red tile roof). The house mortgage is just around $450 a month + a $212 private homeowners cooperative community association fee (which include property taxes, a homeowners' insurance, outdoor/external maintenance and renovations, including, windows, roof, private community roads and sidewalks, snow plowing and salt spreading service, trash & garbage disposal service) My electricity bill is around $34 a month, while the hot water/heating bill is around $71 a month in fixed monthly installments, but my suppliers neither use oil or gas, only renewables. So $662 a month all included + $140 a month for water, electricity and heating Internet, 2 phones, an extra large TV package = $145 a month. Food and all the other stuff you would need = $290 a month So all included I spend around $1,237 a month to pay for all the basic necessities. I earn around $245 to $360 a day, depending on the hours and day of the week, and my present part-time job as a night watch with no degree required (though I do have one) is nothing fancy. My income taxes are around 25% when you consider all the deductibles and that the first around $7,000 you earn a year is totally tax free in Denmark. So in principle I only need to work 7 days a month on average for all the basic necessities to be paid for, which leaves quite a lot of money to spend on eating out, shopping, and all the expensive stuff. Wages in Denmark include 6 weeks of fully paid vacation + around 10 holydays, fully paid sick leave and 24 weeks of fully maternity leave. Taxes include free health care insurance with free choice of private practice doctors and specialists, and hospitals, not only locally but Nation wide, and not only is any higher education free, including university college, but in fact you even get paid up to around to $885 a month to study.

Nice! I love Copenhagen! I’m from California, so I’m familiar with those prices. But, you found the main cheap place to eat, 7-11! Hehe! I didn’t have to resort to 7-11 until I went to Norway. Ouch! It’s easier to talk to Danish people at music and booze venues. That’s where they socialize with strangers.
