I'll have one payday. I would bet these come from the same factory as the Begg knives. A lot of those factories have contracts with some of the biggest names and intellectual property means nothing over there.

How many "Innovative" elements exist on any modern pocket knife? Quality, Value, HRC, Ergonomics, Value are the coin of the realm. I own 2 of the Begg branded knives and 3 of the Icon knives. The quality, value, HRC, Ergonomics are on par or better on the Icon knife than the Begg knife. I say this 7 months after purchase of both. With all that said the Spyderco Manix 2 in REX 45 has had a lot more carry time than either. The Spyderco 10 years from now will still be a regular in my EDC. $129 / 10 = $12.90 per year The Icon knife with turn in in for a new knife can't be beat. $29.00 with coupon. $29/10 = $2.90 For guys with just one EDC the Icon is the best choice. I really appreciate Harbor Freight for giving hard working folks a superior option to the crap at Walmart or the over priced knives at Academy, Bass Pro etc. Thank you for watching! I like Icon brand & I'm glad that a retail store is carrying a bit better quality knife. I'll probably pick one up in August when they have their next sale. HOWEVER, I'm really trying to dump all my D2 steel knives and the weight plus the poor carrying features are negatives. So I don't know how long I'll actually keep this one after I test it

Has anyone noticed or mentioned that both are made in China, not saying that is a bad thing just interesting to me. I bought the Harbor Freight Icon knife, really like it. It’s a good value knife. Also attached a lanyard the hole, makes it easy to remove from the pocket

anyone know how the Icon is heat treated ? or it`s hardness level ?

The knife has good geometry and cuts very well. The hardness is 60 ish..

After viewing the review. Went to buy one at the store. Out of stock at all local outlets. So ordered directly. It still took a month. Very popular item. Not found of the clip also, and wanted to just remove it. Can you tell me what kind and size of the screw head for the clip? Thanks, and nice review.

The knife comes in and out of stock. You can ask the store manager when they put out new inventory. The clip screw is a T6 and the pivot screw is a T8. Look, it reminds me of the Dayton floor jack. Some other of their tools. If you review/research, you can get an EDC. For a third of what big name brands are and a quality peace. Family airloom, maybe not but a keeper on a budget.

I checked the HF website after watching a few reviews on these knives. My store happened to have two left and I was lucky enough to have a $15 off coupon, during a 15% off sale. For just under $25 i have a great EDC knife!! Will get a lot of use. Highly recommend!

I'm not sure this knife from HF is all that great of a buy. You can get a Two Sun TS16 for $36 and have a better knife in my opinion. I'm no knife expert though.

The only knives you can get in an ordinary store with any good steel is the kershaw blur in 14c28n until this came along. Walmart's Rat 1s are still in AUS8, not D2.

I have been trying to find one of these for some time. The stores only receive about 3 at a time and they sell out quick. I was able to pick one up yesterday and it is really nice. I am retiring my Cold Steel EDC for the Icon knife.

Not a big fan of copy cats, but I doubt HF actually knew. Someone fed them or their people the design, nobody there knows a damn thing about Begg Knives. As to the Liongmah, so excellent! And I got mine at Blade as well! (Atlanta last year). 80 bucks iirc, right from the man's hand.

Has anyone confirmed or denied Begg made these or didnt for the Icon brand? I know HF has contracted with a few companies such as southwire for sure for tools. So everyone speculating its a copy one could say they have an exclusive deal with Begg. Would be curious to know who makes it.

Thank you for a non-hysterical and analytical review. I (kinda) get why the knife community is not happy, but Begg is getting tons of free advertising and I doubt there are very many Begg customers who would buy the Icon instead anyway.

It’s not close enough anyways. The begg knives blade has holes in it as well to accumulate gunk and both are made in China. Likely in the same factory. This is better than the Begg knives mini glimpse in use and price. Same steel, actual carbon fiber inlay, same scale material, no holes in the blade, and less than half the price. Honestly both are pretty poor feeling knives in the hand ergonomicly to me and I have both. Keeping my icon and gifting the other icons I bought and the begg one. “Designed in USA” means bupkis when they’re both just made in China.
