I had the exact same thoughts about the movie!! I did not reread the book before I watched the movie and I wish I had. After the movie I kept asking myself, did they make the scenes in the book look like accidents? Or did they completely miss the point with the movie? I came home and immediately grabbed the book to remember 🙃

Cameron 😂 I agree the book is infinitely better. It wad extremely hard to read for me since I was in a DV relationship for so long. I thought the movie would be the same but I didn't have the same emotion. Still a good movie and Atlas is my literal favorite person ❤

So to get you thinking- that was the point lol. The movie makes it look like an accident cause that’s what an manipulator and abuser unfortunately does. Makes you think it’s an accident or that it won’t happen again. Personally I loved both. SPOILER for those who haven’t seen the movie but read the book- wish the magnet scene was involved. Otherwise I liked it. I thought Justin was an absolute perfect Ryle. But still wish we had Theo James as adult Atlas lol but still a great movie.

Yes! I thought the same thing because the magnet scene is what had me SHOOK that one line “where’d you get the magnet lily?” Is forever embedded in my mind.

I was so disappointed by Leather & Lark, especially because it was one of my most anticipated reads. It 100% missed the mark (IMO) that B&B hit. The plot was all over the place, the villain arc was anticlimactic to say the least…he was literally on page for a few minutes and was taken out in a few seconds. Like really? All that build up for this? Also, all those trigger warnings and yet the book was so tamed. I guess I was expecting more, and I just couldn’t reconcile the Lachlan & Lark from this book from the Lachlan & Lark we met in B&B, they almost seemed like different characters. Hopefully Scythe & Sparrow is better, but for now B&B still reigns supreme 🫶🏼.

I can see where you are coming from. I like the romance story in L&L more than B&B so that puts it at #1 for me.

I was just so confused because if he wanted her to go to the portal then why did the fox almost try and stop her? Like he bit her ankle. And obviously she had to know because otherwise she wouldn’t have stabbed him.. and why would Aurelius and Eli let her almost get killed multiple times in the process? And what happened to Walter?? He went through the portal and never mentioned again.. like just so many questions

Okay that ending made the whole book worth it. The book is so poorly written. Really, description, grammar, spelling, it’s all horribly amateur. The story and aesthetics themselves are good, but even if all you read is fanfiction, this is a poorly written pile of nonsense. And unnecessarily crass, it’s vulgar. The ending though, that twist, wow that got me. I hate that so many books are romanticizing and sexualizing SA. I’m so over it. This is beyond enemies to lovers. I don’t want to read the second book since the first is so poorly written and unenjoyable to read, but the ending was so good that I… idk. We’ll see.

The Broken Kingdom series was the first series/books to get me back into reading! The very first book series ever (when I was 14 I thinkkk) was the Graceling series! At the time it had only 2 books and now I think there are 5!? I tried reading it and I just couldn’t do it 😂 it was tooooooo YA with not enough romance for me 🤣 but the plot is THERE in that series! And I feel so stereotypical when I say this but A Court of Silver Flames is my 5 start read that LITERALLY changed my life. Nesta is by far the MOST relatable character I have yet to read. I constantly am mentally saying “never again” and “you do not yield” in my head on a daily basis. ♥️

It just doesn't make sense how the entire book her inner dialogue was "why does he think I'm an assassin....wait faeries are real...I'm just a scientist I want to go home" meanwhile at the end we find out that she knew all along. Makes no sense. Someone please tell me they read the second book and that she was under some kind of spell when she entered the unseelie realm and forgot. And what was the whole 'saving lunar moths' bit if her goal all along was to gain access to the seelie realm. Makes no sense. So she never mentioned that in her inner dialogue, like ...was she gaslighting herself? I don't get it...kinda annoyed tbh
