I started practicing yoga 20+ years ago in a class that was too advanced for me with a teacher I thought hated me for always showing up at the more convenient for me but wrong level class. I knew nothing about yoga except I was drawn to it. I thought she had us do sun salutations repeatedly to try to get rid of me (it was all about me in my mind)! Now in my 70s I seek out your slow flow sun salutation video for pleasure and laugh a little at myself throughout. During your class I reflect on all of the wonderful teachers I've had through the years and am grateful. Thank you

Allie would you mind to explain the difference between Power yoga and to Vinyasa flow please? It seems you have a variety of yoga style. Thanks.

Hi there, Chelsea here for Allie while she's on maternity leave! So a vinyasa flow will always have some variation of sun salutations in it, but it'll vary in intensity. Power yoga however is more workout orientated. Power flows don't always have sun salutations in them, but they are designed to be a harder intensity. Hope that helps!

Allie how would you explain Ohm to the student so the students does not feel it is religious. I teach at a place that we have many members that are yoga is hinduism? So the hands together/prayer hands is too sensitive for many.

Hi there, Chelsea here supporting Allie while she's on maternity leave! Aum (sometimes spelled Om) is one of the most sacred mantras in Hinduism and many other South Asian religions. It is considered the sound of the universe and is even used as another word for God. When we chant Aum we are acknowledging our oneness with the universe, each other and that we are all connected. Allie (and myself as a teacher) always share this information with students because it is important to us as a yoga community to show respect to the culture that originated this practice. Yoga, at it's roots, is a spiritual practice that most South Asian religions, including Hinduism, are connected to. All that to say! If your students are uncomfortable, I would reconsider including a mantra in your classes. Students can of course enjoy the physical benefits of yoga without practicing it spiritually if they choose. Another option is to explain the background of Aum, that it represents our divine nature and connection to the universe, and comes from many different religions, but let students know they can choose to not participate in the chanting of Aum if it makes them uncomfortable.
