Why are you still use VSCode(spyware, forbidden in large corporations and governments) VSCodium works exactly the same, without spyware

Why aren't you talking about running Asahi on M-series Macs. And every other Linux version runs dual-boot on intel Macs Also you can run all terminal commands from Linux directly in the terminal, and you can install HomeBrew and Macports to install Linux apps.

In the past, I used to keep the Master Boot Record (MBR) on an external drive. I'm curious if it's possible to do something similar today. Here's what I'm thinking: 1.Connect an external fast USB-SSD. 2.Start the MacBook. 3.Boot into Linux, Windows, or another OS from the external drive. If the SSD isn't connected, the MacBook would start up normally with macOS.

You forgot to metion parallels allows remote desktop access from your phone. I was able to run sonoma, windows 11, ubuntu, and fedora on my s24 ultra with near native performance since both are arm chips.

Hoping Apple might solve some of my issues with iPadOS by allowing VM's. It'd give those who want macOS on their iPad an option too.

I heard they dropped WSL1 because it was just too difficult and you end up taking a performance hit so the tradeoff wasn't worth it.

First heard about the new chip in October 23 I believe. We had to wait about the same for the first Apple Silicon machines after WWDC 20. But the difference is that Apple provided Dev Kits early so devs could at least check that out. I filled out the Qualcomm form and still waiting to hear back about their dev mini pc. Let's see. We're close.

1:41 that's not slowness of VS Code, but slowness of it's bash script that does shitton of unnecessary shit, if you replace it with direct call to VS Code executable, it'll be as fast as Zed here

I've had amazon agree to refund, then not actual disburse it. Then on follow-up they ignored and didn't acknowledge that conversation and said that they won't refund as if this was my first request. I'm really getting sick of them, and strongly considering quitting their platform, and just working a little harder to buy from individual retailers.

Pay attention that multi threading does not mean that it will run on multiple cores. Multi threading means multiple thread into the scheduling queue, the kernel can still decide that it will be run on a single core, some kernel might even prioritise running multi thread on a single core (depending on the CPU arch), as sometime running them on multiple core might increase copying data from the RAM to the CPU cache, while running on a single core won't. Any way thanks for that great test, even if I'll stick to my Linux, I wanted to see what these new MacBook were capable of.
