In army cadets green stars do drill and classes once in a while, and in red star you do classes and drill once in a while, when you become a red star you actually enjoy drill a little bit

Saw some comments down below debating the ranks. Ranks are an appointment though colloquially we often go by promotion. If my memory saves me... Starting from the bottom when you enroll, we have Air Cadet (AC) and Leading Air Cadet (LAC). Cadets at these ranks are referred to as "Cadet" though everyone else including a Warrant Officer 1st Class enrolled in the program is also a cadet. To distinguish a cadet from an actual officer in the Forces, a lot times the prefix "Cadet" is added to their rank, ie. Cadet Warrant Officer 2nd Class Smith. Corporal (Cpl) and Flight corporal (F/Cpl) are the junior NCOs of the squadron. They are called NCOs to distinguish them from Commissioned Officers, who are actually commissioned and get paid. At these ranks cadets are given responsibilities for the first time. They're still mainly followers while getting trained to become leaders. As a corporal, I remember teaching new recruits to tie a tie and answered some general questions regarding the program. Next we have the senior NCOs: Sergeant (Sgt), Flight Sergeant (F/Sgt), Warrant Officer 2nd Class (WO2) and Warrant Officer 1st Class (WO1). I miss the old days when you had to earn these ranks with merit whereas nowadays it's automatic promotion up to F/Sgt. When I was promoted to F/Sgt, I had to go through a merit review board (and did quite good in it). As a Sergeant, I began to lead more and took on parade positions when some seniors were absent. Sergeants are usually the 2IC of a flight or even the Flight Commanders in smaller squadrons. In bigger squadrons, however, the Deputy Flight Commander position could be taken up by Flight Sergeants. The highest ranks in the chain of command for cadets are the Warrant Officer Ranks, WO2 and WO1. Depending on the size of your squadron, there's a limit on the number of WO2s you can have. My squadron had around 70 cadets and we usually had 4 WO2s at a time, though by the end of the training year they promoted 2 more F/Sgts to prepare one of them for WO1 as the Warrants were aging out. Regardless of the size of a squadron, there can only be one WO1, who is also the Squadron Commander. But in smaller squadrons, that can be taken up by a WO2 as well. On a parade, WO2s would take the roles of Deputy Squadron Commander, Adjutant, Squadron Warrant Officer and Flight Commander (last 2 can be taken by a lower rank as well). To become a Warrant Officer, a cadet has to be a successful candidate through a merit review board. I had been through two of these for WO2 but was not promoted in the end unfortunately.

The French and English versions are totally different. See WIKI for the translations. Also, this is Quebecois.... not exactly French. Something like UK English and American English. The French lyrics was first. The English lyrics came later. The French version hasn't changed at all. It is much more patriotic and gives cause to be proud. I'm Anglophone. I prefer by far the French version. Wish there was a way to make it the only version. I'm sick of the "political correct" English version.
