Look at Arguello slip and parry Chacon's punches...that's the mark of a really high level operator. Brilliant stuff!!

Everyone could see Pryor was doped up. When he got hit by a good punch, it never fazed him. Higher than a kite. Too bad there wasnt drug testing then.

Wilfredo got his brain scrambled in that first knockdown and never recovered. It's too bad because this could have been a great battle between the rising star in Sanchez and the ultimate boxer puncher Gomez. It was 2 big right hands from Sanchez that produced the opening round knockdown...one about 20 seconds before the big right that put Gomez down. The little left hook they all focused on was a meaningless punch. Wilfredo was already on his way down. Gomez was never an angel outside the ring and alcohol and drug abuse certainly caught up with him in this fight. On the other hand, Sanchez's training, stamina and devotion was already legendary despite his short time as champion. He trained as if he was fighting 25 rounds.

Larry Holmes, and his peanut butter mouth filled constant yelling commentary makes this broadcast of one of the greatest super fight matchups of little men almost unwatchable. It's not a professional presentation...it's more of a yell-fest in a bar. I never thought anyone could overwhelm Bob Sheridan but Larry is relentless. Holmes was never an articulate man but this is him at his worst.

This fight really caught me off guard. Considering who these two men are it is easily one of the all-time best fights. So bitter sweet as the champion Sanchez would lose his life soon after. He had a lot more fights in him, and is considered on the very short list for pound for pound all-time greats. Nelson showed incredible heart, took an absolute beating where most men fell to those crushing blows of Sanchez, and just never gave up. I was perhaps most impressed with Sanchez's chin in this fight. Nelson as we would later know was an absolute beast, and got to Sanchez early and often. Sanchez never so much as stumbled. Surely his granite chin played a big part of his reign. But his arsenal, his accuracy, his punches came from everywhere. it's just insane. This is a majestic moment captured in time. When God looks back on earth a trillion years from now he will look on this battle with great pride.

The really really scary and unfortunate part about Salvador Sanchez is he never reached his peak or boxing prime and was only getting better when he passed. He’s probably the greatest fighter out of Mexico and that’s saying a lot and one of the top 10 greatest fighters ever on a lot of list but he never reached his prime

@@Thonolan000 When the video was cropped (to hide some watermark I'm guessing) it swerves like a rolling wave. I find it annoying and avoid videos that are altered like that. Thanks for asking though.
