Lads add "--disable_direct_composition=1" if encounter problems with reseting Chrome and couldn't inject RenderDoc (info from MapsModelerImporter) :)

Thanks for this. The blender tutorials that I used before don't go into as much detail on what the extension is doing and how to use it. My results were subpar with a lot of missing meshes. Excited to put this to use.

Have a little question. I'm having an issue maybe due to my export, I'm missing parts of the geometry when importing in blender. Anyone have tips?

google maps uses some degree of culling depending on what is visible in the viewport. I would try again with a different angle such that it must render all of the geometry. I find that nearly a plan view works best, perhaps like a 10 degree pitch and 35 degree bearing. you can also capture more at a higher resolution if you use the zoom buttons in chrome settings and set it to 25% zoom. This will force google maps to render more of the map at a higher resolution.

Make sure all instances of chrome are closed before trying. That should fix it

I tried it out with Rhino 8 - and maybe they changed it but after 10 minutes trying to get back - i found out - ctrl + shift and double click right mouse button worked to get it back.

Hey so I noticed that this file has some issues placing the labels on parts with irregular shapes. I wonder if it would be possible to limit label placement to inside the perimeter shape or something?

I tried many times by changing the chrome short cut but never opens PID window.. everytime it is opening full window homepage. Anyone got this issue resolved?

When I imported the RDC file into blender the geometry is very rough unlike I see in your imports or the examples that are on the Github. Is there any solution to get smooth surfaces, some sort of blender setting perhaps?

Inject process is a no-go. Restarts Chrome and kicks out a new PIN. Tried Renderdoc 1.17, 1.25, 1.31, all same result.

Its because you have chrome open in another window to watch this video. Use your phone to watch and make sure all instances of chrome are closed before injecting

@@NikoDellic I had the video pulled up on firefox. Regardless, I tried it with everything closed including firefox and it still didn't work. Tried disconnecting second monitor and restarting computer as suggested by another comment and still no go. Any other possible suggestions?

no it doesnt work fine for me, it creates a too small RDC file with an assets folder.... and in blender I get a few pieces of geometry..

thanks a lot, it took me 2 hours, but it's ok now... at one point chrome translated your chrome code into French (which I didn't ask for), so it didn't work!

hi there, it works, unless i browse to google.maps.. then it stops the injection process and gives a new ID. ? tried several renderdoc versions latest, 1.3, 1.17. all the same. I also tried all the flags.

How did you get it to work? My chrome opens as normal no code no nothing like that. I did edit the properties shortcut tab like needed.

the problem with this tutotial is that it only shows an ideal situation, Cplan is not working for me when in porting a 3d model from an AutoCAD file.

you need to set the cplane. or if its invisible press f7 to make it visible
