I am glad you have taken it upon yourself to review these aires, you are a great ambassador for your beautiful country so please keep them coming. Personally I have avoided Scotland for the past few years hoping that things will calm down and from what you say the corner is being turned. I look forward to visiting again in the future and using your reviews as a guidance. Thankyou Cameron. AL

If you have a spare two days you should visit Elie and Kingsbarn in Fife. They have overnight parking for campers . Very lovely.

Yes, I've stayed at Elie but weather was too wild to make a video. Will definitely go back and film there. Lovely spot and some great work from the Fife Coast Conservation Trust.

Thanks Cameron good video and yes , please keep reviewing the aires for the channel. Stopped at the Green Frog in Moffat after you recommended it and it is probably one of the best overnight stops we have ever stayed at! Glad the weather has warmed up for you 👍 Had to stop the video twice to work out what the noise was coming from neighbours house until I realised it was that cock crowing in the background 😂Keep up the good work 👍

Thanks for a great video, and yes, this is very useful. We had stayed at the campsite years ago in our T25, and your comment at the end of the video answered my question about its availability. I think you do us all a great service having a hunt for these new aires and pointing them out to us, and I for one appreciate it greatly. Hopefully, in time, these will grow and small towns will benifit from passing trade, as folk stop over and spend time exploring and spend some money in the local shops, bars and restaurants like motorhomers do in france. It should be a win-win and ought to be looked on positively. Cheers 👋

Just had my fusion one week ago. I’m losing my mind with the boot. It’s so heavy. Dragging it around is awful. I’m a runner some 30 years. Hoping I can run again when this is healed. The pain started about 3 years ago. Had a chealectomy. It was Okay but didn’t take the pain away. Had shots and still no relief. That’s why I opted for the fusion. So here I am one week later after fusion. Hate the sitting so much. Were you allowed to walk with the boot on after surgery or did u need a scooter for the house?
@CameronMcNeishOutdoorsКүн бұрын
Patience is the real healer my friend. I wore the boot for six weeks and yes, I could walk round with it, but you really need to give the joint enough time to fuse together. If you don't you'll have further problems down the line.

Hi Cameron , I am 31 days post surgery of my big toe joint . My surgeon performed a Cheilectomy slightly different to the fusion . I am light weight bearing in a rocker bottom sandshoe ATM and its ok however i do not have full range of the joint ? as when it reaches the maximum bend its painful. Im just wondering how long before i can walk reasonably normal without the pain. I can only take small steps with a limp and looking forward to stepping out to my normal gate . Thank you

Sounds like y our op was different to mine. I wore a special boot for six weeks and after that I could walk normally.

Hi Cameron, Thanks for an informative view on arthritis which I stumbled across (no pun intended) while searching for views on joint fusion v replacement. I'm currently waiting to see what my best options are going forward and weighing up the pros and cons of each procedure. I've been suffering for years with arthritis in my left big toe taking painkillers and I've had 2 cortisone injections but it's getting more painful each day. I had an appointment this wk and was told the joint has completely closed over so even the option of another cortisone injection via camera in theatre was not viable. The options are now joint fusion or replacement but each one has pros and cons. Fusion option obviously fixes your toe in place so you can't bend it but it might affect the other toe joints while replacement still allows you to bend your toe but will need replacing in about 15 yrs or so. Like you I'm active walking and going out on my bike plus I work so can do 30k steps a day. I'm 53 so i still want to be able to work and exercise like before just pain free. How are you now fully recovered? Are you back to your normal self still exercising?
@CameronMcNeishOutdoors12 күн бұрын
Yes, I was also at the stage where my podiatrist couldn't actually get a needle into the join to give me another cortisone injection. At that point x-rays showed clearly that the joint had deteriorated to such an extent that my only option was fusing the toe. Post-op I was fully recovered well within a year. I occasionally get some pain in the smaller joint above the fused one but that is just because it is taking the full brunt of the movement in my foot. It's not a big issue and a couple of paracetemol sorts it out. Ifg my experience is anything to go by I'd get the fusion done. I can walk, run, rider bike - virtually everything but ballet dance!

@CameronMcNeishOutdoors14 күн бұрын
It would certainly help but if it's fitness you want you'd probably be cheaper, and you'd get fit faster, by buying a normal bike at half the price. If you are really unfit then I'm sure this bike would help you enormously.

That was a video that gladdened my heart. Ten years ago next week I woke up in intensive care after emergency open-heart surgery to repair a damaged mitral valve. It is surprising how quick the body mends. I was out of hospital at the end of the fifth day and two weeks later I was walking about at the Glastonbury Festival. But it was four months before I was allowed to drive again and quite a lot longer before I could walk up a mountain or ride my bike. The breast bone has long since fused back together but I still get pains in that area when heavy lifting, as I found out this spring when I had to rebuild an old stone wall at my house.

It's good to see you out and about on your bikes again. Remember you still get fit on your e bike you just go further in the time you have on the bike. I fitted my bike carrier to my tow bar for the first time and transported my bike to a local wood and had a cycle and returned home so now I am all prepared for summer expeditions. I need a bike pump and an inner tube but that inflator is too rich for me even with your discount. Sorry.

Stopped at this site cycing the NCN7 route. it is abysmal. I was heading for Newtonmore but the campstie there is now shut. I had a look at the website and this shows photos that are not on site and does not show that the site is behind a major large noisy electric substation. I dont mind a minimum of facilities. There are no facilities except a charging point and a less than clean toilet with only cold water. I got very little sleep in a site sandwiched between a railway and station with trains running late and a buzzing substation. it might be okay in a large motorhome with all facilities on board and sound proofing. I would not reccoment this for anyone in a tent

Thanks for sharing Cameron. You are looking well, and I'm sure things are progressing further with each day.. You say to share if there are any bumps in our road that put a temporary halt to our plans, well, I type this after an ultrasound at Addenbrookes hospital. I'd flown out to Turkey to hike the Lycian Way 500km but noticed swelling in parts of my anatomy (fluid retention) that I've experienced before linked to problems with my abdomen, which is susceptible to cancer. It was a no brainer, I contacted my consultant from my hotel in Turkey & my consultant said "get back to the UK for an ultrasound ASAP,". Well, I got the all-clear this morning, so I'm immensely relieved. However I'm still pretty pissed off that I had to abandon my two-month hike through the Taurus Mountains! But as they say, the hills will always be there, and so will I come October to start the Lycian Way for a second time. I will take on board your sense of patience and 'listening to our bodies' approach, and I'm sure I will enjoy the Taurus Mountains all the more in October, with gratitude for good health, as I'm sure you'll enjoy taking your granddaughter up her first Munro? Perhaps that'll be one of the most significant Munro memories for you Cameron? You're doing great... Best wishes.
