great video, but fyi hasselblad was bought out by DJI !!, so at 11:27 thats why the skin tone of the 4D is outstanding, as Hasselblad uses Sony sensors, of course, but they tweak the colour science, why the shots look so vouge like!!

Wonderful video! However would never shoot outside of 800 or 12800 on Sony. Also I love the tech comparison… it’s the one we’ve been missing. To me it’s most about the lenses and I haven’t seen an image from this camera that I really loved and it’s now apparent it HAS to be due to the glass. That’s the deal breaker. The best sensor in the world can’t make those horrible lenses look great…. You’d have to have a whole team of teams in post work like on Garland’s Civil War.

Even if i shoot with a mirrorless camera instead of an iPhone, is it better to convert the videos shot with h.264 or h.265 to proress422 or 422HQ before editing?
@THEDPJOURNEY
@THEDPJOURNEY 5 күн бұрын
422 would surely be smoother to edit, but that will only make sense if you have an old machine and you have a lot of space to spare. Also keep in mind that converting to 422 will not bring back the color details back that are already lost when recording in h264 or h265, or remove the compression artifacts from these compressions. It’ll just preserve what you captured with all its problems

What if its not BRAW that is semi-denoising the image, but its ProResRaw that adds noise? I always felt ProRes was too noisy.
@THEDPJOURNEY
@THEDPJOURNEY 6 күн бұрын
Hahaha, no such thing as adding noise in camera. Noise is just fleeting electrical charges with random pattern that affects the sensor in a pixel level. Brands are fighting for reducing this phenomenon, not adding it

Nothing stopping Final Cut from having braw right now. Blackmagic have not made it proprietary like ProResRAW. I hope both codecs are freely available in all edit software.

This is great. But in my opinion, the actual image quality didn't improve much after gh5 and gh5s. They were and still are cutting-edge cameras. Of course gh7 is better, but there is no difference like between gh1 and gh3 or gh3 and gh5

Hey I know this was a controversial video(in so much that it highlighted an issue that upset people) and the drama around the GH6 was massive at the time, could you clarify something you said in this video, you mention that the low iso circuit expressed bad enough streaking you would avoid shooting in these iso's all together. Do you mean in genreal or in these lighting conditions?
@THEDPJOURNEY
@THEDPJOURNEY 16 күн бұрын
I meant mostly in these high contrast conditions, but even in low contrast it’d still express that streaking

Great video as always. Was the grain added in post or the result of the ISO? Lastly, as a GH6 user, from what your experience using the GH7, would it be a worthy addition to partner with it?
@THEDPJOURNEY
@THEDPJOURNEY 16 күн бұрын
The grain was post. The GH6 has a sensor that suffers from streaking. So to me I never used the GH6 for any client work. The GH7 is definitely a better option

DP... Your back! I just wanna know about the ISO performance. I'm already told the raw is pretty noisy at ISO 500. That's not a major cause it's Raw and no NR has been applied plus I'm betting they underexposed.

I don't usually comment on videos - but I have to say the clarity in which the information was explained both verbally and visually, was incredibly well done. I've been in the video production and motion graphic industry for 25 years, and this is a combination of effort/talent that is rarely seen - the amount of polish and detail in the motion graphics is insane for this type of video. You've gained a new subscriber. Don't stop!

wide angle handheld shots in slow motion look always similar to gimbal shots - so what happens, when you have to shoot in 25p with for example a 35mm or 50mm lenses;-)?
