Sadly lots of spam posters out there. I don't know if there is a plan to what they are saying or they are just generally critical by nature. From time to time I get comments like that also, and i don't even claim to know what i'm doing LOL 😁

Hey Jim I have no idea of what that guy was talking about; Even though I know how to do a few repairs on small engine repairs that I learned in shop class that I took a couple of years of; That was over 50 years ago. It was just the basics of small engine rebuilds, & sharping blades. I watch your videos to learn all the stuff I was not taught in school, & IMHO what I have learned from you is invaluable. That is why I always try to say ( Thanks Jim for your help ) Even though your not physically here helping me; The knowledge You share is more help than You will ever know. Again Jim thank You for your help SNAPPOUT.

Maybe he thinks a fix is a 1 step process, when generally, repairing something is often a multi step job and he wants the simple version that doesn't exist. So he sees your explanation as a mess because its too much for him to handle. Perhaps he just isn't very mechanically inclined or possible mild autism and gets confused. I always found your information very clear. As for people who think they are smart, its the dunning-kruger effect. Happens to us all in different areas I think. We learn a little bit about some information, and it feels like we know a lot now because we don't know what we don't know. As we learn more, we realize there is so much more to learn about that area, so our confidence drops. Eventually we become an expert and our confidence slowly comes back up to cautiously realize we do know a good deal but are weary of making a mistake and avoid making assumptions.

I had never had any mechanical knowledge, i would never even had tried to work on a lawn mower, until i decided to buy a 2nd hand 1984 snapper about 10 years ago. while cutting my grass the drive belt came of, it was a Sunday and nowhere was open. i headed to youtube and trying different chanels(which didn't help) i stumbled upon your chanel and you made it so easy to show me how to put the belt back on. i subscribed immediately. because of your knowledge and videos i now have the courage to work on my snapper, fear free. you are a fantastic educator.my old snapper now runs like a clock and i know that if any problem arises in the future you have got my back. thank you Jim you are a gentleman and a star. lots of care to you and you family from Ireland

Great video and information! My snapper just started "bucking" when I put it in gear and drive. Almost like there's a bad tooth or something on one of the gears. I guess for now I can check the drive disc and then go from there. It's obviously worse when I go uphill because I'm putting more of a load on it.

Any clue on what size carbide bit I need to drill the pin out. Mine is completely FROZEN.
@jimjackson9381
@jimjackson9381 17 сағат бұрын
Well, the original hole should be 1/4 inch and a roll pins are slightly larger to fit tight in the hole but I would try putting some penetrating oil in there and then get yourself a 1/4 inch roll pin punch. You’ll have to support the wheel on a piece of wood with a, 5/16 hole drilled into it in line the hole up where the pin is going to come out and try driving it out first typically drilling them out really makes a mess unless you have the wheel in somehow and using a drill press your drill typically is going to wander And there’s no guarantee it’s going to follow the role pin. Keep me posted on your progress and what you’re trying.

So I have steel cables on the back, was this maybe done by the previous owner, or is there a way to adjust those?
@jimjackson9381
@jimjackson9381 Күн бұрын
No, some machines had steel support cables on the back of the mower deck if you look up towards the top of the cable where it goes through the rear case, there should be a bolt on the end of the cable and you can tighten the nut and it will raise the back of the deck.

Those cupped washers that are everywhere on Snappers are called Belleville washers. They're really old school, as are the eccentric bushings on the axles. I've worked on equipment that was designed in the early 1900's and both of those were used. They work great and they're simple, once you know about them and how they work.

Yes, I am familiar with the name of those and how they work but most people are not so I just called them cup washers and I tried to explain that they are a old school lack washer that’s not really used much anymore.

Hey Jim I have a question on my 12hp Briggs I’ll be mowing an it’s really hot it’ll act like it’s running out of gas and shut off wait for a few minutes if starts right up and sometimes it runs fine but sometimes it runs a little while and does it again what do you think causes that could the fuel filter be suspect

@@chrisvoliva3264 OK your model number is a 281016BE OK, the number 28 indicates a 28 inch deck The number 10 indicates it’s a horse engine The number 16 indicates it’s a series 16 The B indicates it’s a Briggs & Stratton engine The E indicates it has electric start If your model number had a V behind the E that would indicate it has overhead valve engine your since not so it’s a flathead engine that’s how you read the model number so I would say no that 21 horses not supposed to be on that Machine is supposed to have a horse.

@jimjackson9381 4 күн бұрын
Oh, I forgot the other model number SR 1028 will tell me that the SR indicates it’s a rectangular tube and it could have ball bearings in the rear axle. Most of the rectangular tube machines did if it does the left side of the machine will have a very large boot bigger than the right be careful of them boots they do not sell them or make them anymore, the rest of the number 10 is for 10 horsepower, and a 28 is 28 inch deck
