Hi Stephen - this would require changing the factory setting for the front roller diameter. Usually this information is locked in software and not accessed via the recalibration menu. You would need to approach JTX for specific information on your model.

I have an old BH Fitness treadmill. I smelled some burning then the treadmill died. I see the burn mark on the control board. I replaced the control board and the treadmill works now, but i thought i smelled some burning again. Even though the motor runs and seems fine, could it be the cause of why the control board got burnt out? What do i need to check now? thank you
@charteredengineer
@charteredengineer 28 күн бұрын
The same problem happening again will be due to there being too much friction between the running belt and deck. This happens due to either lack of lubrication or just wear and tear. You need to replace the running belt and perhaps the deck too. Maybe time to look for a new machine.

How to identify the ground in a 3 pin switch with all silver pins?
@charteredengineer

Hi Ravi - you are looking for continuity (low resistance eg. 0 or 1 ohm) between the ground (ie. a bare metal part of the chassis) and one of the silver pins. This will be the ground pin.

Hi. My treadmill has died and tripped the circuit breaker. I did get an electrical burning smell just before it went wrong. The casing of the treadmill was quite hot and directly underneath was the motor. I took the motor out and have done this resistant test. I get 2.6 ohms (180v motor, 5.5 amps). I did the chassis test and I’m not getting a reading. I can buy a new motor but not 100% confident it is the motor
@charteredengineer
@charteredengineer Ай бұрын
Hi Simon - electrically your motor is testing ok although it could have suffered heat damage to the windings. I suspect your motor control board has failed and is causing the tripping. Most likely the root cause if high friction between the running belt and deck. These could also need replacing. Hope this helps. Best wishes, Jon

A good video as far as it goes but a few extra pointers for replacing a belt. take a few picks and maybe a simple drawing of the belt route. On the right hand wheel (resistance wheel) half slacken the small tension setting nuts (10mm) both sides. Remove completely the nut and adjuster near the belt side. Slacken both resistance wheel hub nuts ( 15mm), removing the one nearest the belt. Moving the resistance wheel rearwards to slacken the belt. Remove the old belt. place the new belt ( ribbed grooves inwards) over the LH flywheel, and on the RH side, pull the resistance wheel out of its seating just enough to be able to feed the belt over the nearside centre hub bolt. *the wheel is HEAVY, but manageable one handed. ( I did not find it necessary to undo the adjuster cable). push the resistance wheel back onto its mounting, noting to replace any washers properly. Feed onto all wheels pulleys as in the video. Put back the nearside resistance wheel hub nut and tighten both sides but not enough to lock in position. Adjust the tensioners equally (10mm) in order to give about 1cm of give in the longest belt run. Turn the flywheel a few times to ensure the belt is running free and is central on all pulleys. Tighten both resistance wheel hub nuts fully, and retest the belt tension. Give the flywheel a few turns in both direction to check everything looks/sounds ok. Optional - reconnect the pedals and give it a functional test to make sure the resistance levels are working and all seems good, before replacing all the covers. Good idea to clean the inside and maybe oil the flywheel bolt too? This was on My Aldi crane eliptical which had lasted me about 15 years before developing a clunk and intermittent drop in resistance due to a slipping belt ( had a 2" patch worn through to the internal copper strands). A £15.49 belt ( 460J6 Dunlop Poly V Belt (1168J6)) from www.bearingboys.co.uk saved a couple of hundred for a new machine.

Would You happen to know how (or if it is even possible) to run the calibration process on a BH G6421C? I had my main board replaced recently and the treadmill is too fast even at 4kmph setting, I suspect it has something to do with the motor sensor calibration and the board controller but not sure how to proceed. Any help/advice would be much appreciated, I've tried holding down the start/stop with various combinations but can't get it to run calibration.
@charteredengineer
@charteredengineer 4 ай бұрын
HI - I'm sorry I don't know that specific access code. I always BH fitness to be helpful so perhaps approach them directly. The speed setting could be contained in the console software (via a service menu) or there could be a potentiometer on he lower circuit board (MCB) that could be used to adjust the speed. Obvious question, but is the treadmill set to miles per hour instead of kph?
@DIvadxat
@DIvadxat 4 ай бұрын
@@charteredengineer Thank you for responding, I've sent a query to BH and I am hoping they will respond. I have tried switching the treadmill from miles to kmph and vice versa but have had no luck in sorting the speed issue. I'm surprised that there is nothing mentioned in the manual to guide the user on running the calibration function and none of the usual button combinations seem to work. All my earlier treadmills had a simple button combination that would bring up the calibration for the incline and speed. I've seen the MCB (one next to the motor) when the service technician replaced it but didn't notice a potentiometer on it. It is surprising that the service provider for the treadmill that changed the board in the first place doesn't know how to run the calibration. Hope BH responds to my query. Using the treadmill in the current uncalibrated mode is a no-go for me.
@charteredengineer
@charteredengineer 4 ай бұрын
@@DIvadxat I agree. The technician should have set the machine up correctly. The calibration setting are not something you would expect the user to access which is why they do not generally appear in the user instructions. Good luck and please post about how it goes.....
@DIvadxat
@DIvadxat 4 ай бұрын
@@charteredengineer After some tense arguments with the service provider we identified the potential issue. At some point the factory fitted motor 2HP was replaced (due to wear) with a new one that was a 2.5HP motor, but the MCB remained the same. This was causing the MCB to fail and speed control to be messed up. This particular model does not have a calibration function according to BH. The MCB, motor and speed sensor are intended to work as a set as per my understanding from discussions with the service provider. Now they've changed the motor back to a new 2HP motor and paired it with a brand new MCB and sensor. So everything is within specification. The treadmill seems to be working fine now, although I haven't used it for a long walk or run as yet, from initial impressions it feels like it is working as it should. Simply put, if the replacement motor was in-spec perhaps there wouldn't have been an issue at all.

My cheap treadmill off Amazon creaks when and thumps when I turn on the ac. It sounds like plastic expanding or contracting due to a slight temperature change. Is this normal?
@charteredengineer

Hi - yes I suspect this is normal. Please check the user instructions to confirm that you are using the machine within its design limits (ie. max user weight and frequency of use). You can also check that the machine is on a sturdy, level floor as this can also cause unwanted noises.

I recall that there is a procedure for re-installing the android OS on those consoles but you will need to google it for details. It could be a faulty motor especially if you can smell burning. The drive board may also have failed. The root cause could be too much friction between the running belt and deck. My experience is that the running belt and drive board are the most likely to need to be replaced. Hope this helps.
