Sincerely, you should have showed us that bare floor first, before the artificial turf was added. In doing so you show the people that no matter how bad it looks at the beginning of their makeover they simply _need_ to believe that they can do it. That they just have to trust the process. This is the normal in garden design here in my european country. Mulch is only visible before the perennials have grown large enough. The American stylen with monstrously large lawns and huge mulch beds just looks so bizarre to me
