what about using sticky skin prep?

@@AdamGrant-rh3tg of course. If your infusion sets tend to fall off due to adhesive issues a skin prep is a great first line of defense. If that doesn’t work you can the add some type of over patch as well to ensure that it stays in for 2-3 days as needed.

What if my cartridge still has 120units but it's time to change the canula AND tubing. Do I need to tell the pump to stop pumping temporarily before removing the tubing? And shouldn't I do it where it connects to the pump instead of at the site? Aren't you supposed to fill the canula before it is attached to your body? Or has that changed?

Thank you for the video! I've watched the one on the Tandem site multiple times and still had little success. Watched your video (pinched the set together while removing the needle guard) and made a huge difference.

Very good tutorial. So many people have kinked cannulas with these sets. I have one comment though, and that is that the white plastic center piece is what you are supposed to use to remove the inserter piece. It’s on the Tandem video and the instructions in the sets themselves.

Hola x lo que yo se nunca debemos desconectárnoslo x las noches… siempre se necesita insulina… de lo contrario se producen hiperglucemias… Tandem tiene una función en modo de sueño… para no producir hipoglucemias en la noche…❤

This video should be on Tandem's website. I've been on TSlim for 3 months and been through 120 sets (ridiculous I know). I've been pumping for over 20 years so I'm not inexperienced but the Autosoft is so fragile and nuanced that it requires tricks to work well. After following your instructions I've had great success. Thank you so much!

Just started Tandem, lumbee22 is right! I am not sure What they were thinking. I have been using pumps over 25 years, I am 72 with right hand numbness (Carpel tunnel) and this is NOT USER FRIENDLY at all. Considering going back to my MiniMed 630 if this HQ Technology is not life changing. I will recommend your video’s to my RN Educator😊

Relief. Thank you for this clear instructional. We were told to ensure at least 3 drops of insulin are coming through the exposed needle before we do the onto skin insertion part. This adds another minute to the process. Thank you.

Thank you for that, what I was taught how to load the cartridge was wrong, and I have had uncontrolled sugars for months now. Woke up last night to it saying it was empty, iwas able to draw 140 units out of the cartridge, woke with a sugar at 488. Finally today got the my pump back running.

At 5:42 you say you're going to connect this new infusion site to this new infusion set. I think what you mean it that you're going to connect the new infusion site to the OLD infusion set (so that you don't waste the insulin in the old infusion set). And you still need to fill the cannula.

Agreed. This is a great clip for explaining why canulas might be getting bent or kinked in the first place. However, you really do need to remember to prime your new canula!

Thanks for the video. I use the tru-steel infusion set. If you have a new cartridge and the tru-steel gets yanked out, Can you insert the tru-steel somewhere else without changing the whole infusion set?

I have been using this infusion set for quite some time and I also use a dexcom G6 device. With my G6 I use an overpatch which is great because I'm very athletic, however is there an overpatch that I could get for Autosoft XC infusion?

Yes… you can purchase an overlay cover for these types of infusion sets as well. The only thing is you cannot get them directly from Tandem. Simpatch and Skin Grips are sold on Amazon and they have a round overlay with a 0.8 in hole cut out that works for this type of infusion set. I wish I had seen this two weeks ago when a bent cannula created a high blood sugar crisis when I was hundreds of miles away from a substitute infusion set. I was on a one day work trip when it happened. I know now I will go nowhere without an extra Auto Soft XC or two in my backpack. Thanks, Alejandra! I have each of your videos containing valuable tips and techniques, and this one is especially valuable!

Great tips on techniques that added to my confidence in doing this successfully. I have been using a Tslim for about 10 weeks, and never noticed the arrow on the infusion device. That is just one example of a very useful fine point.

You should be changing out your infusion sets every three days. This hack is in the event that your infusion sets falls off, or the cannula gets kinked prior to your three day change out. It is important to rotate sites to avoid developing scar tissue, which will lead to decrease insulin absorption down the road.
