This is such a heart breaking composition, it hurts, as the name of the track says. The only bad thing: it's too short.

Thomas doesn't write genuinely mournful songs all that often, but this is one of the best. The harmonies are so great, and the simple but huge percussion hits every time.

Thomas' albums doesn't tend to have as many melodic themes as you might find in, for example, movie soundtracks (notable exceptions being his more cohesive albums like Seven and American Dream). So I am always enjoy how this track, Reborn, and Illusions end the album sharing a melodic theme (and instrumentation/sound design).

One of my favorites of the album, I still remember the date "Illusions" was launched and I heard it for the first time, when I reached Sonera I couldn't believe the strings orchestration and the powerful choir within the main vocals.
