Hello, is there any danger in soldering after cooling with a damp cloth?

Fantastic progress, I thought mine was coming along until I had a heart attack 😮! Firing on all cylinders again now but I’m need to get rid of my welders because of the magnetic fields 😢😢 I have just bought an English wheel is there any chance of a basic class if Ican help with some engine / transmission or build support 👍

The propotions look great out in the wild. The car I built 35 yrs back looked great in my back garden but odd out in the open so thats a big tick. Looks spacious and comfortable and sitting "in" not "on" so BIG ticks there for your design. Two up in a field you'd have answered the clearance question. I got that wrong as well! Amazing little engines. I've a similiar project on the go and have read up on the 750 mc tuning stuff. In an Austin 7 the standard power will give a car that feels plenty frisky. It won't match the very fastest Austin 7 engines but its up with the original suoercharged cars. That frame looks so easy to lift, not going to be a heavy car. The tyres look good. Not a conventional choice but the proportions look great with your body design. Am looking forward to seeing it at a Prescot event.

Looking and sounding fantastic. Better that clutch going in that field than 100 miles from home. I’d say that was a massively positive first shake down run. Can’t wait for the body work. Best of luck 👍

Looks great. Well done. I've built a very similar car. The Reliant engine will benefit from twin SU carbs and a race exhaust manifold. I can let you have details if you want. Send an email address. Steve

Great you got to drive it. Well done! Looking forward to seeing the panels coming along (I need hints and tips!). I forgot how small everything is on an Austin 7. Am on my Riley stuff now which isn't exactly huge but even it make Austin 7 stuff look tiny.

Even a billion dollar space launch doesn't go as planned the first time out. The clutch is just a minor setback. Its going to be sweet!

I have contemplated just leaving it in Ali but the is a particular colour I’d love it to be. It’s some I’m going to have to give a lot of thought too

This beautifully crafted framework reminds me of when stick and paper model airplanes were built, it was a almost shame to hide all that structure with a skin. 🙂

It a Four cylinder in line OHV water cooled Aluminium alloy cylinder head and block that makes 40hp its a very similar size to the original that only makes 10hp. It’ll be good for 80mph and is easily tuneable

You should be encouraged by getting the engine running and the fact that the steering was ok etc etc. the clutch is a bit of a set back but don’t let it get you down everything else is fantastic. 😊

Having the broadest grin on your face should give you the motivation to push through the problems with the clutch - better that it happened now, rather than when the car is fully built and complete, worse still if it happened on track. More power to your welders and crack on with Ep.9 👍👍

Congratulations on the first drive! Even though it ended poorly, I expect that you were giggling like a kid.. at least inside if not audibly. ;) Darned shame about the clutch situation. It sure was acting a little too "quick" from the start. I'm just finishing up the chassis on a build I'm doing and can't wait to get to the panel work, so I understand your excitement.
