A goat ride by Lester Piggott, showing all why he was the best of all. What made this win sweeter for me,was knowing that Royal Academy, was a grandson of......Nijinsky.

He lost a few races but I think he is the greatest horse that ever raced . 51 YEARS later and no horse has come close to his Triple Crown record's .

All you Americans shout and scream about Secretariat, I agree he was fantastic, but NOT the greatest, don’t you all forget the super great of all time, YES FRANKEL, I witnessed at Newmarket the most sensational rout of group 1 winners in the 2000 Guineas, half way 15 lengths clear and wins in a canter, then at Royal Ascot in front of the Royal family trounced the opposition in the Queen Ann by 11 lengths, without coming off the bridle, to go on undefeated in 14 races, he reached the highest rated horse along with the great Justify with a rate of 147 in reality Frankel should be the highest rated because his speed was sensational and could not be matched.

He was NOT BORN in KENTUCKY!!! Secretariat was born to a modest horse farm in VIRGINIA. He was “syndicated” and MOVED to stand at stud at Claiborne in Kentucky.

I had a retired outrider horse. My husband roped off of him. My 6 year old daughter rode barrels on him. We sold him to a man that used him for a babysitter. Four kids would ride him at the same time without a saddle or bridle. We called him battleship because he was a horse and a half long and tall. He was a great horse.

I was at the Preakness that day. What a horse. Anyone notice that in all 3 races Turcott never used the whip. It was all heart for a horse who just loved to run

I was 12 when secretariat blasted into the media scene, I was an athlete and loved sports but I never thought of horse racing, my area it wasn't a thing but secretariat changed that, especially Belmont stakes, the announcer calling the race says, "He's moving like a tremendous machine", even today thinking of that gives me chills, I'd never seen a horse run away from the field by that huge margin. Thanks for a great memory.

Our society is sick in the head. He knows right from wrong and chooses to starve himself. "Luxury of feeling full" is an odd statement. I admire the honesty and shame the physical and mental abuse of it all. All for what...a trophy, money, and a reputation? Here's a sport...put a monkey on your back and run in circles. First one to reach the banana wins. Pathetic

Laffit Pincay weighed 117 for thirty years and his diet was unbelievably sparse. Lukas told the story of flying with him to an out-of-state race and as they prepared for take-off, Laffit ate half a peanut. When they landed, he ate the other half.
